I went to a wedding recently where the 'guest book' was a big cardboard photo frame, with a gorgeous photo of the couple in the middle, and all the guests wrote messages on the cardboard frame. I thought it was really neat.

Some trophy engravers do these awesome glass-art things, where an image is set (engraved somehow) in the middle of a block of glass - they can even set an image of a photo of people in there (monotone, obviously, as it's white-on-clear IYKWIM). The photos turned out really nicely. I have to admit my fascination is largely based on the 'how on earth did they do that...?' factor.

For our first wedding anniversary I got DH a newspaper from the day he was born, it came in a frame but they have them in folders and stuff as well. I got it shipped from UK and it wasn't that expensive but someone in NZ might sell old papers from here. This is the english website, they have papers going back a 100yrs.
