Hey y'all!
I'm new to these forums but have had a quick read through and already got so much advice!
I do have a question and wondered if any of you could help me.
About a week after I gave birth to my beautiful son Brian (he's now 13 wks old) I started to experience joint pain mainly in my knees, hips and elbows, but the worst is in my wrists and fingers. Feels like arthritis - very stiff and sore. They loosen up after I use them for a while, but it's a killer for the night time feeds. This morning my right wrist clicked and now really hurts. I've put some Voltaren gel on and put on a wrist cuff to keep it stiff and warm.
Has anyone else noticed the same thing?
Thanks!!

Hi karin, no sorry I didn't experience anything like that. I vaguely remember the midwife and ante natal classes talking about muscles being very loose and stretchy post birth. You have to be careful not to lift anything heavy or stretch too much to avoid injury.
Not sure if that may be related or not, I would pop off to your Dr and just check whats going on anyway. Being tired and run down is probably not helping and you certainly don't need any extra problems.

I have the same problem, since I had Mason my knees hurt like buggery if I try to kneel down. Not sure what causes it, I never though to ask my midwife about it.

Oh no - I twisted it again in my sleep and now it really hurts I rang Mum (she's a nurse)and she told me to bandage it right up which I have. So hard though. It's not like you can't use it when you have a baby! I'm trying to hold out until next week because I'm flying to Auckland to see my Mum and my Stepdad (he's a doctor). They want to take a look at it. Also, we're really feeling the pinch on one income now and I just can't afford $60 to go the doctors down here (I'm in Wgtn). The funny thing is when I talk to people about it they seem very skeptical that it's got anything to do with being pregnant. I get that look ... you know ... the one that says 'you're not pregnant anymore ... it's about the baby not you'. Do you get that?

yeah i know what you mean karin, my in laws are like that a bit. when i had appendicitis last year they were so unsympathetic until i was admitted to hospital to have it out. i was really glad that it turned out to be something serious so they realised i wasn't just being a sook about it. to hear them you would have thought i was just trying to get a day off from my daughter!

I've had the same thing in my knees, when I crouch down they sometimes make cracking noises and they can ache at night
