I want to give DH a present when baby is born, but I am completely stuck as to what to get him. Not sure if anyone will be able to help.... but thought I would put it out there!!
I want to get a present that he can keep forever and it be a lasting memory of bubba being born. He doesn't really wear jewellery - he already has a Greenstone from when we travelled overseas together, and he bought a really nice watch in Switzerland when we were there. His wedding ring is the only thing he wears (and the greenstone from time to time). Any other ideas?!? Did anyone else do/plan anything similar? |

hmmmm can't think of anything that he would wear...but we're planning to get some special dad-and-daughter shots soon after she's born (while she's still got that squished up, brand new look)...

I gave my DH a present..it was that screaming bundle of joy we named Alyssa...she herself will always be the lasting memory of the day she was born  
Sorry, no useful ideas.. I'm giving DH the same present next time too (just a different screaming bundle).. |

Heh heh Pepsi!! That's true of course....
I like the photos idea, but I think we'll do that anyway. I also thought about getting a pic professionally mounted for him, but he as he is a consultant, he never really has his own desk at work or anything. Oh this is too hard!!! Help!!!!

Dunno whether its his cup of tea or not....but maybe a voucher for a tattoo or get one designed for him? You could buy a tree to plant....(either one that was suitable for a big pot....or plant it somewhere special to you both)... Its a tricky one....good luck!

What about one of those Willow Tree ornaments - you can get a really nice father and baby one or you can get a nice family one.
You get them from Aquasitions and places like that. After my mammoth labour and all I went through to get Caden here, thats DF's present LOL But Adam got to hold caden first as I was being sewn up lol, so he was really happy about that and the nurse's took pics of him on my cell phone holding caden when he was like 5 mins old 
Ummm Im not sure hun....if I was going to give DF a present it would probably be something like....a photo in a a nice frame of hima nd caden. ------------- |

You've had me thinking - and I'm in the same boat as dh only wears his wedding band. I think I'm going to stick with the bundle of joy idea myself
I had a thought in the night though (it's crazy where your brain goes at unearthly hours!) - for my bday my parents gave me a little marble figurine-type thing of a mum, dad and child. Slightly more on the 'symbolic' side of things than the willow park ones. I think they probably got it from one of those middle of the mall type stalls with african artifacts, or maybe trade aid or something. Sorry if I'm not making much sense! Another idea that might take a little more time on your part (if you like making things) is a little A-Z notebook from you to him full of little memories, anecdotes, quotes, photos and anything that means something to the two of you. You can always leave some spare pages for pics of bubs! Doesn't have to be very big or fancy, but it can be fun to do - I put one together for my dh for his birthday the month before our wedding. Or you could do something like a little memory box (you can get some really cute wooden ones) with things in it that represent what he means to you, or things that are special to you guys. You can attach a little gift tag or post it note with a quick comment to each thing inside it . Then you can add a pic of bubs with him once bubs has arrived  -------------

In terms of symbolic - the koru represents new, unfurling life - so what about a koru ornament or wall hanging or something? I know acquisitions has a great range of them, along with many gift shops. -------------

Those are really nice ideas Kristy!
I know he won't be expecting anything, but I also know that he is having an eternity ring made for me, so I would like to do something thoughtful in return.... it's just coming up with something meaningful that he can keep. |

Ohhh Laurie what about one of those nice bracetes for men with the flat bit that you can have something engraved on.
So you could have the babys name and birthdate on it Then he will have something he can wear and will have bubba's birthday on it. ------------- |

I luv the Koru idea. Also the memory box, But then would he use it, I know if i gave my BF anything along that way he would never full it up.

I am also thinking of the best Xmas present for DH - since bub will be born in December.
I thought of an engraved ring but he doesnt even wear his wedding band sometimes, he just doesnt like rings on all the time. I want something special from me as he will be the only one getting a present this year. I will be getting photos done from You Photography with him and bub when she is born and our first family photos.
