This is the clearest pic on the scn, they were actually measuring one of the twins but you can see them both clear as day. And yes, Willie was shocked... He was sent home from work early coz his foot is playing up, so I went out to him and said that I had the scan, and he was like "so?" And I said there's two. His first reaction was "thats going to cot me even more money!". But that quickly changed to "I'm the man" and now he can't wait to go back to work and tell all his mates that he's such a hero! -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I know, when they did the internal scan (to see in more detail) we could actually see the little monkeys wriggling and squirming, and the tiny little arm and leg spots. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Yep - not! But they couldn't clearly see if the twins were in the same amniotic sac or not so they had to do it. I was amazed how much clearer it was than the abdominal one - in some of the pics you can actually see the babies umbilical cords! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Yep -whatever one is they both are, so I figure at least one of them will have to be co-operative at the 18 week scan!

Completely random. Apparently this particular type of twin is a random thing. But I did find out yesterday from my Mum that her father (my grandfather) was a twin, but his twin died at birth. I never knew that before! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Oh yeah! I rang Yvonne and told her, and she said she nearly crashed her car! But the sad thing is she won't be able to deliver as they don't do twins. So she is trying to work out a shared care deal with a specialist she knows. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Yep, the white splodgy bits are the babies, one on each side!
And yep, my tummy has been pretty bloaty since the beginning, I thought I was just going to carry bigger this time, but now I know why I have such a pot already. But I have a fat tum anyway so I don't look preg as such,just fat. Will post a pic later. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Great scan! You should write a week by week (or day by day if you have the time) diary and put on ohbaby. Yep Maria - I have to have shared care between a midwife and OB and we are going to go with the same Ind Midwife that delivered Maya and a private specialist because my Southern Cross will fund it. My midwife says I will have more frequent checkups and stuff, and I guess they will take into account that my brothers and sister were all prem. Maya wasn't "Prem" as such, she was 10 days early which is termed a 38-weeker as we didn't get to complete the 38th week.
Am going to keep a journal for OHbaby! too, and keep track of how my tummy grows, and my scan pics, coz it's pretty interesting! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I'm curious, I thought identicals shared the one placenta and fraternals could either share the one sac or be in separate ones? (like everyone else on the planet twins fascinate me!) Man that is a clear scan. Get used to having heaps of them because i did i think all up i had 6 or 7 but not sure would have to have a count.
Yeh identical twins can happen to any one its ferternal twins that have to be passed on through the family. You're so right Aimee! One minute I am thinking how cool teh idea is, the next I am panicking thinking how the heck am I going to cope with two babies, and how are we going to be able to afford 2 cots, a double pram etc etc. And feeling a little ripped off - second time round is supposed to be easier because you know what to expect. Instead I am doing this twin thing for the first time and have NO idea what to expect!
But I am happy about it overall. Like Maria says, it means I will get my 3 kids without having to be pregnant again, plus they will play together when they are older and stuff. It's just a huge thing to take in! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Hey Emma, you should go to the multiple birth society. Apparently you dont need 2 cots you just co-sleep them in the same cot. A friend of mine has twin girls and they love to snuggle up together in their cot. Mum said that too. I was thinking I could top and tail them with a Safety Sleep each maybe. I have spoken to the local Multiple Birth club, the lady was awesome, he told me that they will give me a card that gives me a discount at the Baby Factory and some other shops, every little bit counts I guess.
The pram I was looking at is $900  It's a Valco double. But it is apparently narrow enought to fit thru doorways, and I can get a kiddie board fitted to the back for Maya so she doesn't feel left out.------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

My mum slept me and my sister in the same cot until my sister started playing up and wouldn't sleep at night, so then they had to get another cot and my sister used to get put into the lounge to sleep at night time because she would just scream all night long.
