Hi, I have been looking at antenatal classes for my babay due at the end of Feb 09. Parent Centre is Auckland Central and West Auckland are full up for this year so would have to do a class that would be still running when I am due to give birth.

Was also given details for mama maternity - have not heard of them though.
Need some advice - who can you all recommend in the central auckland or central west auckland area.

Not sure where you live and are planning to give birth, but Birthcare runs courses through the Auckland Central region. http://www.birthcare.co.nz/expectant-mothers/classes/antenatal-classes/ - Birthcare antenatal courses

I know Waitakere Hospital runs courses as well. There is also an antenatal course at Titirangi Community Centre run by Cathy McCormick, which my MW recommended.

We went through Parents Centre West Auckland.

Hi there,

I do a bit of volunteer work for Parent Centre (central), and they were talking about running an extra antenatal group over a weekend near the end of the year as there is so much demand at the moment.

I am so glad we chose to do the Parent Centre ones as the resulting coffee group is so great - a huge support to have. The classes themselves were fab as well. Really realistic and fun.

Might be worth getting in touch with the bookings person again and get yourself on the list just in case this extra class goes ahead?

My best friend did the birthcare ones and thought they were a waste of time. the instructor kept going on about 'dancing down the birth canal' (FWIW I think those are fully booked as well anyway)

Hope you manage to find something xx

I booked with Parents Centre (Onewa), and I booked early and they were nearly full, must be a big year for babies.

Good luck finding a class, there will be one around.
