45km of Kapiti Beach front is propsed to become nudust allowed. I am slightly disterbed about this, we are going to move up there next year! i imagine it could lead to a couple of interesting anatomy explanations to DD sooner than anticipated. this is going to horrify my inlaws lol!

LOL LizzyJ.  I've been to the nudest beach in Seatoun and one on Waiheke Island (never as a nudest though) and it's not bad. Generally they're not packed with nudests and a lot of the nudests are very discreet - it's not like in the TV shows where they're all playing nude beach volleyball with bits boucing and flapping everywhere.

With both beaches I've been to there were private accessways to the nudest part of the beach and it was the harder part to get to.  In my limited experience the carparking, toilets and dairy are next to the family areas and you have to trek across a lot of beach to get to the nudests.

We used to regularly go to the one in Seatoun when we were young and child free so that we could relax without families of screaming kids around LOL, those days have gone  and we stumbled across the one in Waiheke by mistake.

i wouldn't mind if they were just going to have one or two sections that was clothes optional, but no its the whole Kapiti coastline, would be the largest nudist area in the southern hemisphere (according to the news).
man i sound like an old prude!

What the! No way. I havent heard this but thats pretty shocking, 45km is huge.
There is an area slightly up a bit in PekaPeka that is know for its nude sunbathers, I dont see why they have to make the whole beach nude. I really hope its just a rumour!

Im sure they are going to get so many locals complaining. I pretty much doubt, or at least really hope it wont go through.

Not quite, that's more the Waikanae area. Lovingly dubbed as 'Heavens Waiting Room'.
Paraparaumu and Raumati areas are more family dominant.

I love the beaches at Kapiti! What a shame that they're going to do that.

It's one of the major drawcards for people choosing to move/live their. The huge, family friendly beaches.

Where abouts are you moving to Liz? I used to live there and I miss it so much. I used to be in Raumati Beach... Grew up and spent my teenage years there *sigh* Ah the memories.
DF's such a Tawa boy though, that he wouldn't even give the slightest consideration to leaving. Bummer!

DH works in Paraparaumu, i like Raumati South so we are thinking of there, i also like Nikau valley, but could be a little cold. DH was born and raised in Paraparaumu and its taken a lot of work to get him interested in moving out there!

Yep old wrinkly prople re what i imagine as well!!

I really don't care. as for taking the kids - it's not like people are going to having sex and with today's swimsuits - naked actually looks classier and more tastefu! go nuddies!

Don't expect to see me there parading my "wares" however. kapiti - too bloody cold!

and what about skin cancer????

I heard on the radio that it was from Paekakariki (sp?) through to Otaki - that's alot of sand. I'm not a naturist or a prude but surely it would be better to have a few secluded locations instead of the whole stretch? The more populated areas like Paraparaumu/Raumati should be kept family friendly IMHO.

Maybe the oldies won't need their viagra prescriptions filled as often and there will probably be a few more out "bird" watching with their binoculars.

I don't see the big deal either. Think of it as a beach & biology field trip?

We live right by Raumati Beach and I am not worried - DD sees us naked and it really is a natural thing. In fact, DH reckons him and his best friend are going down there over summer to lap it all up!

It is a LOT of beach, 45km, and I really doubt the nudists would be hanging out right at the 'family' areas, which are usually at the entrance to the beaches.

I can't see the big deal, either?

At worst, if you take the kids to the beach and you see some nudies, they will learn that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, not the air brushed versions the media pushes at us.

Nudist does not equal pervert.
