A friend e-mailed this to me this morning and it gave me the heebie-jeebies! Yucky!
http://imageshack.us">
The picture was taken on a mobile phone and the little girl you see crying refused to go into the group as she said the little boy was scaring her.
Thinking very little of her tantrum, the little girls mum (who took the picture) later discovered what the little girl was crying for.
Look closely at about Knee hight between the 2nd and 3rd girl in from the left.
That, I suspect, is the reason the little girl was crying. Now have another look...

Are the monitors at your workplace all the same make/model by any chance? Cause if they are, and they happen to be fairly old this could be why neither you or your workmate could see the boy in the picture. ..just a thought..

I'm gonna throw myself out there and tell you all that when I was 12 I saw a ghost at my grandparents house.
It didn't freak me out at all, he was just a little boy standing at the end of my bed. When I told my grandma about it she told me she'd been seeing him since my mother was 18 months old. First time she saw him he was at the end of their hallway, and she thought it was my mum and she'd climbed out of her cot. She told her (him) to go back to bed, so he crawled back towards mum's bedroom. Grandma got to the door, the crawling baby was gone, and mum was fast asleep in her cot!
Turns out loads of other members of my family had either seen or heard this little boy, and they ended up getting the parish priest in to bless the house so he could finally be at rest.
Neighbours told the family that a little boy had died of pneumonia in the house when he was about two years old, about 15 years before my mums family moved into the house.

I'm actually a huge cynic when it comes to most things deemed to be supernatural. I don't think that photo is real.....
Mum keeps reminding me when I scoff at things like Sensing Murder that I've had an encounter of the 'ghostly' kind, and I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss things.
Mebbe. Mebbe not.
But in saying that.... I know what I saw was real. I had no prior knowledge of what my grandma or other family members had experienced so it wasn't just a childs overactive imagination.
ETA: Jo - tell us about your experiences if you are happy to do so.......

Yeah I'm a bit of a cynic too - but have also seen "something". I was staying the night at my sisters old house (an old villa). The head of the bed was next to the door with a space on the other side of the bed, then a wall. I fell asleep facing the door then suddenly woke and flipped around a saw a man standing by the wall. This was maybe 10-12 years ago but I can still picture him exactly. I freaked out though and screamed and ran out of the room
Mum has also had the same man visit her for years, even followed her over from England lol. She hasn't seen him for ages though. But apparently he used to sit on the bed next to her

my friends mum killed herself when my friend was 14 , and my friend had no photos of her (she didnt live with her mum and as her LOVELY family blamed her for her mother's death ) she wasnt given any either .
Anyway, cut to 5 years and she has a 3 year old , and even better , her grandmother dies (meh , she was a b*tch) and leaves her one (ONE) photo of her mother , her daughter on seeing it ,says "nana !" .."how do you know ?" my friend asked "she told me " ...."er...when ?" ..."she told me last night "
Ive seen a ghost , didnt do much , i didnt feel scared, just , really , really sad ...
And my friends girl used to focus on one spot and laugh -she was probably just being a baby giggling at nothing , but it was like she was listening to someone -this is my friend who died shortly after her baby was born , so i prefer to think that she is visiting her daughter (so even if you dont believe, humor me on that please )

One night when I was a kid I went into Mum and Dad's room because I felt sick. I talked to Mum and she told me to go and get my pillow and come back and get into their bed. I did, and when I got back I asked Mum why she had been sitting on the end of the bed. My first experience I was about 12 and we were staying in a chalet in Queenstown (on a family ski trip). I woke up because someone was calling my name, I went downstair to my parents (where the voice was coming from) and they were both asleep. I went back upstairs and all my bros and sisters were asleep so it could haven't been one of them either.
When I was 19 I was in town with DH and some friends and DH and I had an argument, I stormed off angry with him and decided to walk home (about 20 mins away). There was a short cut through a park and a long dark alley which I decided to take. I crossed the park and got to the bottom of the alley where I met an elderly lady standing by her gate we spoke briefly and she suggested that I should take the main road instead of going up the alley so I turned around and went back to the road. As it turns out the house was a student flat with no elderly lady living there. I believe this lady was an angel protecting me (we all know that young girls and dark alleys don't always mix well)
Also Michaela, especially as a little baby used to stare at and chatter away to a spot in the room. One day she was crying and screaming as I changed her nap and DH, trying to calm her, asked her where grandad is, she stopped crying and looked at the spot. DH's dad, her grandad, died when DH was 3.

I've had a few experienes as well.
Most recently, I "smelt" my dad. he had this very distinct smell. I was sleeping int he spare room (snoring husband) and my dad's smell was overwhelming and I could "feel" something in the room, you know, that pregnant silence kind of feeling. I ended up sleeping with the light on, it did spook me a bit, but the smell stayed all night. Mum and Dad always slept in that room, and Dad slept in there till just days before he died (they lived with s for about a month). The dog won't go in that room, and nor wil the cat anymore, either. It is Jakes room now, and he has "played with poppy" a few times as well.. you know, hear himtalking nd playing, ask him what he is doing etc and he is "playing with poppy!"

I've had a few:
I was flatting in Mt Eden with Conor and another girl, we had the upstairs rooms and she had the downstairs room. I was in bed and I woke up to someone calling "Wake up Mel" So I got out of bed and heard someone trying to open the back door. (My flatmate was sound asleep). I crept down the stairs and woke her up and told her someone was trying to get in. We rushed back upstairs and called the cops they sent the dogs and the cops and got a scent of someone, they lost it through the school near where we lived. We packed up and went and stayed at mum and dads for the night. I have always thought it was my grandmother.
2nd
I was pregnant with Conor and had just had a shower, I was in my room getting changed when I felt a cold rush of air go around me. 10 mins later dad called to say that Grandma had died.
3rd
After my ex died we moved into mum and dads, I was in bed and I heard someone walk into the room, almost like their jeans were scuffing the carpet. He walked around the room and walked out again. That same night I heard footsteps in Conor's room (the floorboards creek) went in to find him fast asleep and no one there. The next morning mum mentioned asked me why Conor had been up that night, and I said he wasn't I checked on him and he was asleep. It would have been a week after the ex died... so I figure he was checking on us one last time.
I never seen one, just felt them.

When my friend died, her husband's best friend (and her friend as well) was on a plane coming back from Wellington oblivious to what was going back on at home (what was going on at home was the doctors had done a scan and discovered a blood clot on her lungs ) he was asleep next to his boss (who clarified this) and he woke up in tears, his boss, alarmed ,asked him what was wrong and he said "shes gone , Natalies gone "
He rang her husband when he got off the plane and said "Natalies passed hasnt she ?" , she died 2 mins before he woke up from his dream .
Heres a story i love , my grandma told it to me years ago , and i think its just beautiful personally .
A few women had been found murdered in an alley way on the way to a hospital , the killer had not been found .
One night , a nurse , had missed the last bus, and needing to get home to relieve the baby sitter, she nervously , and against her better judgement, entered the alley way .
Clasping her rosary beads and praying to God for protection ,she started walking , halfway along , she passed a man sitting , just staring at her, with no expression in his eyes , feeling uneasy , she started praying harder to God to protect her ,she got closer, and saw a knife at his feet, knowing the victims had been stabbed her prayers started in earnest, she got to him ...and ...nothing...he just sat there, staring , she continued on, the whole time feeling like he was going to grab her from behind any minute, but....nothing, she got to the end of the alleyway, praying fervountly the whole time, for God to protect her, if not for her sake, then for her children , she exited the alley way, and turned back, the man was still sitting there, just staring at her .
She made it safely home and certain she had seen the killer , called the police, when they got to the alleyway , the man was still there, as was his dagger , and they arrested him .
She was asked to come into the station to identify him , and she asked if she could (with security of course) ask him some questions herself , she asked him , "did you not want to hurt me "
"yes , i did " he replied bluntly , and honestly .
Rather taken aback she asked..."well, why didnt you ? "
this time it was his turn to look surprised "how could i have even attempted to hurt you ?" he asked "when there were two tall strong looking men with swords, walking right beside you ?"

I don't really make a habit of telling my stories to people because I'm generally a bit of a cynic too and I know how silly they sound, but since we're sharing, here goes
When we first moved to PN I was 3. We moved into a big old villa and I loved it because my sister and I had a huge room to share but soon after we moved in I stopped sleeping well and started having bad dreams at night.
One night I woke up after one of the dreams and I saw an elderly woman walking into the room. She sat down on my bed and stayed there for a long time. I wasn't scared of her, and she often came in to my room when I woke at night after that.
Apparently my nightmares stopped a few months after we moved in.
Years later, I was doing the dishes with my mum and she mentioned that they had bought the house as a deceased estate. I asked her if it had been an elderly lady who lived there before and she said yes, and that she had seen her wandering around the place for the first few months after we moved in.
I was gobsmacked, my mum is not the sort of person I would ever have picked for believing in ghosts, and when I said so she agreed. She also said that when she saw the elderly woman, she never felt scared and figured she was just checking us out before she moved on.
Story number two is quite weird and I'm not too sure about what was going on.. anyway.
When I was 15 we moved into a house that had previously been rented by friends of ours.
They had said to us on a number of occasions that the house was haunted by a scary woman.
We didn't think they were being serious though, as they seemed quite happy there and laughed when they mentioned the woman.
About a month after we moved in I started waking in the middle of the night, hearing someone walking around and often feeling my bed bump as someone moved past it. except of course, there was no one there.
It got worse a few months later when I started to wake with this awful feeling of dread. I don't know what it was but it felt like an awful evil presence.
It was suffocating, like there was something really dark and evil right there and all I could do was pray and pray until I felt it leave.
My little brother had similar experiences and then one night he awoke to someone knocking on his bedroom window. When he went to it, there was an awful looking woman there who told him to go and get his mother. He said she kept repeating it, Go and get your mother.
He ran to get her and when they got back, she was gone.
What makes it weirder is that where his bedroom was, wasn't accessible from the road at all.
We told our friends who'd lived there before about it and they said it was the same things they'd had happen there. The evil presence and visits from scary lady.
Frrrrrreeeeeeaaky.
ETA: Even with both those occurrences I'm still not too sure whether I believe they were real or not. I do have a very active imagination and am easily frightened, so there's a good chance it was just me working myself up.
Who knows!

OMG Mel, that last one in particular is freaky!
I have a couple of experiences where I'm now mostly convinced I was just freaking myself out with my overactive imagination but I think some of the experiences are very real.

I wonder if, somehow, it's a case of 6 degrees of separation, Shorty.
I wonder if it's a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend...? Haha, it was a big mass e-mail that was sent to me, so it's highly possible that it is the case. Seems probable.

In some of the barracks at Burnham a lot of the 'boys' have been held down in their rooms not able to move or speak by an invisible presence. It's been going on for decades. It only happens at the barrack rooms closest to the parade grounds and in particular rooms, they have now figured out the correlation between the men that were killed at war and whose bodies were laid out on the parade ground and them then going to 'haunt' the barrack rooms they used to occupy or hang out in. DH has seen grown men cry over the experience as it is horrible apparently.
My friends step mum used to be visited by an old man. They used to sit and stare at each other and he'd talk to her but she couldn't understand him. He'd just sit there talking to her while she went to sleep. I would be shyting myself not going to sleep!
My sister has been visited by my great grandmother, just after she passed away. My grandma was visited by her the same night and both sis and gma said it was such a peaceful experience. I never got the 'pleasure' of it.
Just recently my sister was visited for a few nights in a row and when she woke up her DF he didn't see anything, but she was terrified. I think it was more her overactive imagination though as she'd just been to the Deb Webber show in town.

Our bach in Waihi Beach is apparently "haunted". My dad has said hes seen spirits, same with my mum and Aunty. But im not sure if they were just telling stories you know? Just to scare the kids kind of thing (i used to hound my dad to tell me his ghost stories lol weird child i got off on freaking myself out lol).
But me and my cousin have always felt like theres something there. We've both heard things while sleeping in the lounge, stuff that isnt your usual creaking and fridge noises ya know? (its a small bach). But one time my cousin, her friend and i were there and having a few drinks sitting at the table talking about it and we said "what if the light just turned off?" and honestly, no crap 2 mins later the light turned off! We were a bit freaked out after that.
Its never been a scary presence though, i think cause we've grown up with it. And for all i know it could be a family member cause my pop built the bach when my mum was about 8.
Another time i was asleep in my room in Waihi and woke up randomly and i saw this figure standing at the door, then it ran from the door to the middle of my room. I thought it was my mum or something and i turned on the light and no one was there.

I'm fascinated by this kind of stuff and spent ages looking through the pictures on that website that Bobbie posted.
I've had a few strange experiences with lights turning on and off and finding items in different places but some of the stories you guys have posted on here are amazing.
This particular photo has been circulating for a while and was taken by a boy in England somewhere. I think it's cool.

Wow, ive been reading over all the posts and the hairs on my neck havent relaxed!! That photo freaked the crap out of me, i dont think i am going to be able to sleep well tonight...
Its amazing how some people are far more sensitive to seeing and hearing things. Kids are especially close to it. My boy is always outside chatting to someone, and i dont think its to himself because he is looking at something not just daydreaming. He has done it since he was 4 months old. I cant wait till he can talk a bit better, maybe he will tell me more.
My Granddad, who lived in Hertfordshire England, died a week before my nephew Jesse was conceived.
Just after Jesse was born in Auckland hospital my mum went into the waiting room in the maternity room an in the middle of a coffee table was a copy of the Hertfordshire Times 1974 edition. It was my Granddads favorite magazine that he subscribed to.What it was doing in Auckland hospital is any ones guess but my nephew is still only 2 but he looks exactly like Granddad did and is very serious and for lack of a better word "an old soul".
I am usually skeptical but there's only so many "coincidences" you can dismiss before re-thinking that.

Ewww
Ive got another creepy story.
When my neice was about 3, almost 4 maybe? she had an imaginary friend, Jordan (I think) and one nihgt she was laughing away in the kitchen and we asked her what she was laughing at cos she was cracking up flat out and she said We are laughing at you aunty Annie, jordan thinks its funny cos you can't see her. (goosebumps) Whos jordan? my friend, shes right here, shes got a dressing gown on. Sometimes she talks really loud in bed and I don't like it, then she hits me.
My mum, dad bro and sil were all ther and confirmed "jordan" and the bed story, which consisted if two sleeping lumps in the bed at night often times and a very cold bedroom....
