What have you ladies' experiences been with using this in labour and birth if you used it? What worked for you and what didn't?

I didn't use aromatherapy as such but had lavender massage stuff... I advise against it (lavender) as I almost put my midwife to sleep.

I had a special one put together specifically for my labour (my aunt is a trained homeopath and also in aromatherapy) but to be honest I used nothing! I had mini fans, massage lotion, sprays etc etc- a whole bag full of the stuff and used absolutely nothing, not one single thing. I guess 62 hours of labour do that to you.

i had stuff galore for Jake's birth - relaxing cds, oil, a tennis ball (no idea what for, but "they" recommended it), all sorts of crap that didn't end up out of my suitcase.

Thing is, I'm really getting into natural healing and homeopathy / aromatherapy again - don't know where the urge is coming from this time though !! Don't really know where to start looking however, and don't want to end up having to spend a truckload of $$ having something concocted either.

Jax - I'm not that much of a bore! (Not much talking at that stage either... I'll cling to the middle of the night explanation instead!)

But you'd only advise against it because it put your midwife to sleep... ??
