Can anyone recommend a good massage therapist that specialises in pregnancy massage in the Wellington CBD? I need someone who is not afraid of doing some deep tissue work in my upper back. I'm afraid my DH's massages aren't cutting the mustard anymore, nor is he willing to massage for an hour
Also with the recommendation, can you please also state what that massage therapist charges per hour. Nothing over $80 is preferable.
TIA

Hi, not sure if this is of some help but i"m a MT in canterbury. There is a governing body - Massage New Zealand - which has a website
http://www.massagenewzealand.org/index.php?page=search#
You can search for MT's in different regions. I had a look in the Wellington area and from what I could see Jesselyn Chua, Karen Larsen, Lois Reid, Suzanne McCarty, Dianne Lavin, Heidi Cosslett, Naomi Moore, Clara Noldan, Katherine Sinclair, Eva van Gaalen, Carol Wilson all do preg massage.
I realise it's not the same as a reccomendation but in order to be a member of MNZ you need to be a certain standard of MT. Hope this helps, and good luck.

When I was pregnant with my first child I went and had a couple of massages at a place called Revitalise Health (Lambton Quay). The first visit was for around 1 hour and I think I was charged around $70.00 - this was 2 years ago now though so not sure if the prices are still the same. I really recommend them as they had a therapist specialising in pregnancy. Second pregnancy I went and had a massage at East Day Spa and they had a massage called "Mama Massage" and the therapist was supposedly specialised in pregnancy massage but a few days later I started to get numbness in my left arm and tingliness in my left hand - was not happy about that so I would definitely not recommend going there. I think I had some damage done to my nerves but it eventually came right after a few weeks. I did ring up and complain and nothing was ever done about it.
