I just heard some bad stories about middlemore, I don't know is that true or not. My midwife is in South of Auckland, so I was planning to labour there, but after heard the stories, I am quite upset, hope who have any experiecne laboring in middlemore can give me some idea.

My friend had her baby there, she didn't have a problem with it .
Also the mayor of manukau (and one of my bosses closest friends so i got to hear ALLLL about this MANY times) had a ball last year and all the proceeds, $270,000 of them went to buying new incubators and other things for the middle more maternity unit.

I cant say much about the rest of the hospital, but the maternity part, i've heard its fine.

i've heard both good and bad reviews there...    pretty much the same as any birthing unit really. it all depends on your midwife and how the birth goes i think. i had a friend who birthed there about 7 mths ago and she had nothing but good things to say.

Hi I was admitted to Middlemore maternity a week before Ems was born, and was still there a week after (because of pre-eclampsia) and Ems was in the neonatal unit for 4 weeks (being prem). I gave birth in one of the delivery suites of the new birthing unit. That was February this year. I had a really good stay at the hospital and got on really well with the staff in the maternity unit. The delivery suite was immaculate and the neonatal unit of very high standards. Most of the staff I dealt with throughout were really friendly and helpful. There were a few exceptions but I think that was more due to personality conflicts. Otherwise no complaints here. Unfortunately some people have had some bad experiences there and you do hear some horror stories but I think overall the place isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. I would have no problem with birthing there again.
