What are the different childcare options and costs?

We have our 20 month old in a daycare in Albany and it costs $70 a day (or $295 a week).

What does home-based care or a nanny cost?

We're still finding out how things work here and considering our options for next year when I may need to move her.

Ella used to be home based care with Jemmas and it costed us around $4.80 an hr. I 'think' a nanny may be around $20 an hr (or slightly more)- but could be wrong. Some agencies also have a option a nanny share (share a nanny with another family).

I also have Ella is a daycare in Albany- costs us $65 a day.

It depends on where you are and who you have as a nanny really. and what training you want them to have, how many hours etc.

I was nannying for 1 child, it was my first nanny job and i was 18. I loved kids but did not have training for it but Porse was really great at supporting me. I was paid $11per hour.

Next job was for tripets and a 5 yr old and was only getting $12-13 per hour.

edited to add this was 4 years ago tho.

This was in the suburbs of Wellington.

I know some SAHM sometimes take kids that is similar to the age of their own in care and take them to playcentre, other activities like mainly music ect. But you usually need to find someone that is willing to do that. No idea about cost.

I have got a diploma in childcare and I can get $15-18 an hour depending on the family and hours. The cost does vary on their experience and qualifications so anywhere between $12-20 an hour.

I pay my nanny $18 per hour, she has no formal qualifications but I was told the going rate for Akld is $14-$18 so she started here on $16 per hour and I gave her a payrise when she'd been here a year which also coincided with the arrival of baby #4 - and she earns every penny of it with my mad hooligans!

When I had Maya in daycare I was paying $5 per hour, but this was up until 2006.
