so for the first time ever i am doing a themed birthday party... the boy has picked spiderman.

I have everything but the cake planned, cause i cant decide. i have three options.

1. buy an edible icing image like http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Party-festive-supplies/Kids-parties/Cake-decorations/auction-182534389.htm - this

2. bake it using a spiderman cake tin and hope i can decorate it myself. The cake tin i have seen looks like this... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Crafts/Cake-design/Moulds-tins/auction-182534378.htm - link

3. bake a round cake and decorate it in red with a spider web pattern and a spiderman candle.

so can anyone help me make up my mind?

Thanks.

If it was me I'd go for #1 and that is only because I'm a lazy bum!

I have just baked Olis birthday cake using a Wilton cake tin, but havent iced it yet, so not sure whether it will look any good once finished. I would be tempted to do #3 as it will look quite dramatic and like you have gone to a lot of effort, but will prob be quite easy IYKWIM.

ha well this won't help at all because I'd go for #2!!! It comes with step by step directions for decorating so shouldn't be too tricky. Probably the most effort though (I like a challenge!) so #3 would be a happy medium. Personally I don't really like the edible icing images - don't really know why - but that's only my opinion!

Buy the tin girl and have fun decorating it when the cake is done not to mention that if Toby wants one for his next birthday then you can make it again

I'd do number 3, I think that would look really effective and wouldn't be as fiddly as number 2

I'd go for option 2 - I like a challenge!

It would be the most 'authentic' option if that makes sense. I'm not a fan of the edible images either.

Option 3 would be a good compromise though if icing the shaped cake is a bit too much.

Good luck!
