Ok so I take no credit for this recipe, I got it from another website but have completely forgotten which one so I can't post the link. But here it is anyway!

Ingredients:

* 250g butter or marg
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 2 tablespoons LSA
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups rolled oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast (be generous)

Directions:

- Preheat oven at 375 degrees F.
- Cream (beat well) butter or marg and sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, mix well.
- Add vanilla and LSA. Beat until blended.
- Add dry ingredients, except oats and chips.
- Stir in oats then chips.
- Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with baking paper, and flatten slightly. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop. (Or be prepared to get very sticky fingers.)
- Bake approx 10 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen cookies.

Like I posted in the July thread I seem to have more milk after making them, but I've been making a real effort to stay hydrated so it could be a complete coincidence. They taste pretty good though (but VERY sweet - next time I make them I think I might cut down a little on the brown sugar) so I'm happy to have the lactation boosting excuse

http://www.healtheries.co.nz/page.php?id=25&prod=1326 - LSA: ground linseed, sunflower seed, almond meal
Ceres also does an organic version that should be in most supermarkets.

Flaxseed meal is listed as an ingredient in some recipes if you can't find the LSA.

Made the cookies last night, and they definitely don't suffer from the reduced sugar! My mother ate a bunch before I told her what they were good for and horrified asked "what did you put in them?!" Haha.

hi guys, I also found this version on here and was wondering if anyone had tried both which was best

Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies

Ingredients :

1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup white or demerrera sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons flaxseed meal - you can use L..S.A or ground sunflower seeds
1 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 fistful flaked almonds or almond chips
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 large organic free range eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla essence – try not to use imitation
2 cups wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them. Harraways do an organic whole oat
1 cup or more dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons of brewers yeast (be generous)

Hi Sarah, they're pretty much exactly the same except the first uses LSA instead of the constituent ingredients (I use the first recipe but throw in more like 4T LSA) and the second uses wholemeal flour which is healthier (I don't think makes any difference on the lactation front). I don't think the olive oil in the second one is necessary. Depends on what you have in the cupboard really!

The brewers yeast is what helps 'boost' your milk from what Ive read, so yep pretty important!!

I have seen it at New World in Albany SpecialK and the Health2000 near the foodcourt at Glenfield... think New World had it cheaper though. They both have the LSA too

They ROCK. I can't wait till I'm BF and can scoff them again. Hmmm, I wonder why it took so long to lose weight . I'll make some dough up and freeze it before bubs arrives. They're great raw or cooked (obviously not raw while still PG). I reckon they work well, and even if they don't, who cares. And DH won't eat them cos they're "lactation" cookies. Score for me

I didn't really like them - probably because I'm pretty sure they are adapted from one of my favourite childhood recipes only they now have quite a different taste and texture.

Anyway, they did make a noticable difference to my supply, so I adapted another recipe which I find is much nicer.

T-Rex's lactation slice:
2 c wholegrain oats
1 c rolled oats
1 c flour
2 t baking powder
1 c sugar
1 c coconut
1/2 c LSA
2 T brewers yeast
2 T golden syrup
225 g margarine (I'm dairy free, but I'm sure butter would work)

Combine dry ingredients. Melt margarine and golden syrup together then pour into dry ingredients. Mix. Press into a slice tin and bake at 160 degrees celsius until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares. Cool completely before removing from tin.

If you don't have wholegrain oats you can use 4c rolled oats in total and leave out the flour.

I lived on them for the first few months.. had them as afternoon tea with my feet up resting.

Jake was certainly more settled in the afternoons so I assume it did something...

I used it more for a boost for my body rather than suppy booster iygwim and I loved them.. so did DH!

When I visit mums with a newborn I always take a batch with me (and recipe), I love them.

Have you noticed your supply dropping K?

I froze raw dough in logs - then just slice and bake. Easy and worked really well.

Ooh Thanks Mel. I think I'll make these to take to hospital with me. I want my milk to come in quickly so the baby will get control of their blood sugars quicker hopefully without too much intervention.

BUMP!

I made T Rex' slice recipe and not only is it delicious, it really works.

And I gave the recipe to a girlfriend who was needing to top her son up with formula until he showed intolerance to formula and couldn't have it. The slice increased her supply beautifully after about 24 hours.
