Hi Emma,
I was just thinking, it's been a few weeks since you started using Itti Bittis exclusively on Chiara and I just wondered how you were getting on? Do you still absolutely love them? Is there anything about them that bother you now that you're using them full time? How do they cope with newborn explosions?
I'm only asking because I'm seriously considering lay-buying a bakers dozen in mediums for our new baby, which I'm sure will fit them once they've outgrown their newborn nappies (my last baby was born 4kg). DH loves Itti Bitti's more than any other nappy because he says they're the easiest to put on - I love them because they're trim & absorbent (and soooo flufffy!). But I'm still a little nervous as it's such a big investment and you don't hear of too many people using them on young babies.
Many thanks in advance for your help!

I haven't actually used them much on lil miss yet Coz of all her respiratory problems she has to have a breathing monitor and the Angelcare one can't go in the hammock so I have to use the Respisense one attached to her nappy and it doesn't fit over the snaps on the Itti Bittis. She also only explodes every 8 days so we don't get many dirty ones.
I do have the gremlins in them pretty much full time tho and love them. They are really easy, no hassles and they last 3 hours or so. They are also definitely improving with more washes.

I'm so sorry to hear that little Chiara has been having respiratory problems - I had no idea! I hope she is doing OK?

Yeah, she's OK. She had pneumonia at 5 weeks and ended up in Starship, then bronchiolitis at 9 and 11 weeks which was another hospital stay, had to be tube fed and on oxygen so was pretty scary! She's doing fine now tho, has the gremlins cold which freaked me out coz I keep worrying she'll end up in hospital again but she's ok. We got a report from her last chest x-ray yesterday which recommends cardiac investigation coz there was a possible problem with her pulmonary vessels. No idea what that means but seeing the paed on Tues.
So the breathing monitor is great peace of mind!

OMG!! You poor things!!! What an ordeal! That all sounds so scary, I can't begin to imagine. No wonder you haven't been focused on cloth. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for your paed appointment on Tuesday

Oh yeah, I should have said, she fits the meds perfectly and has since about 2 weeks old, and she is on the small side (was 7lb12oz born).
Thanks for the good luck!

Poor little Chiara Good luck with the paed appointment.
Scotts got a few and they contain poosplosions really well, he's very regular and we haven't had any leaks. Hes in mediums and weighs about 6 kgs, but would have fitted them from an earlier age.

Tell me...do they dry ok on the line or do they need a whole day and night to dry. Just asking as I have been a die hard Fuzzi Bunz user with my first and found the drying really good (1/2 day) but love the look of the itti bitti...so fluffy and cute. I do not want to want to use a drier :o)

I used Fuzzis when I first switched to cloth too and loved the quick drying time (3hrs in the middle of summer!). Itti Bitti's do take longer to dry because they're made of bamboo, but I think it's worth it because they're a lot more absorbent than a Fuzzi and trimmer too. On a sunny day mine can dry outside in about 6hrs, but if indoors it could take all day and possibly overnight.

how do they go overnight or do you use sopsies...I now have a girl who will only sleep on her tummy and my boy tummy sleeper wet through wth fuzzis overnight from 1 year old. Also why (other than conveiance) does everyone seem to like AIO over the snap ons?

I prefer the AIO's to the snap in ones for the convenience mainly, and coz I found that even when I washed the snap-in-ones still attached they always came apart and I had to reassemble them after every wash which meant finding all the bits and pieces.
Definitely not for overnight tho, I find I get 4 hours out of them on lil miss and 3-4 hours max on the gremlins. We used to use Ecobubs wool pockets at night, or Bitti Boo fitteds with covers but now we use sposies.

We love our AIOs too, Xavy only has one at the moment but i just ordered some more for him. Ali has HEAPS! I wouldnt use them at night, we use Fuzzis, but im finding Ali wets through them even with a hemp supersoaker, 2 micros and 2 hemp inserts! Not much else i can stuff in there though so it looks like im just going to have to change her until she stops feeding so much at night.
Ittis are coming in night nappies though, so cant wait for that!

I used a Fuzzi overnight on Leo until he was about 18mths old, but then I couldn't stuff them enough to accomodate his heavy night wetting so I switched to a fitted hemp nappy & wool cover (or longies). Now that he's toilet trained during the day and can use the potty before bed I'm finding that an D'lish snap-in with a mini bamboo booster is enough to last him overnight.
