Did anyone else's newborn get excessively dry skin around their eyes?

Jackson is a month old and very red and peely around his eyes. It looks quite sore, but doesn't seem to bother him.

MW said not to worry about it, but I was just wondering if others have experienced this or if I should get another opinion?

I really wouldn't worry about it - Natalie has had dry skin on and off since she arrived. We have been using almond oil on the dry patches (although not on her face), but it generally has resolved itself. I would trust your MW - as long as it's not bothering Jackson, it should go away in time.

We also had an acne breakout once her dry skin had finally cleared up, and are now back to dry skin!

I wouldnt worry about it, all/most newborns get dry skin, Caden had it right up until 2 months old, he was very peely cos he was so over due.
I think its just their skin ajusting to the outside world :)

Jayden was the same, I kept thinking it was sleep and rubed it and then all the dry skin came away, it goes away

Laurie, Bethany has the same dry skin around her eyes. She had dry skin everywhere for most of the first two weeks, but it has cleared up over the last few days. All but around her eyes, that is. Like Jackson it doesn't seem to bother her. My mw hasn't commented on it so I guess it's not really a problem? Glad to hear she's not the only one! Occasionally I carefully put a tiny bit of almond oil around her eyes. Apparently it won't get rid of the dryness but it will make sure the skin doesn't crack?
