So poor little Oli has an awful cough, but his throat is clearly really sore as well. Everytime he coughs he cries in pain afterwards and we think its because his throat is so raw. We are going to the Drs later this afternoon, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions for anything that we could give him to perhaps give him some relief.

Yeah try the paracetamol to ease the pain. Ems was the same last week and we were actually out shopping when she started coughing really hard, almost gagging, and crying in soooo much pain. So we took her straight to our Dr and turned out she had developed a throat infection as well so she had to go on antibiotics to clear it up. It's awful isn't when they're like that. I hope Oli's visit to the Doc goes well and that it's just a sore throat and he starts feeling better soon.

Thanks ladies. I also had a chat with a naturopath this morning which was helpful. We already use the Naturopharm Teethmed and Earmed sprays which he takes happily, and she suggested using the Earmed one to help his throat as it has Belladonna in it, which apprently will sooth and calm it. Worth a go!

We've been using manuka honey (just put a bit on a finger and let him suck it) which works REALLY well and he loves it!

but then got told off by the plunket nurse today as apparently no good for under 6 month olds... could work for you though?

Maybe a feeder bag with ice chips on it to keep his throat moist and cool
