ok so we're getting a kitty in a couple of weeks we already know that it is a grey tabby kitten, very very cute.
Me and the girls think that a nice name would be tiggy... kinda like tigger but different.
mike want's to call it widget (i know... WTF) i hate that name
what do you think, and anyone else have ideas for names.
our last cat was called Joey. i can't remember why we called him that but there was a reason, something about his small cuteness. we used to call him josephina lots though lol, poor guy.
anyway ideas would be great

It wasn't advertised in the Longburn school newsletter was it? My mate just picked a tabby kitten up from them and they had another one to find a home for lol.
My cat was called Widget. She had three legs and was the coolest guard cat out. She died last year of liver cancer
What about Rielly? A little boy I know named his cat "Dog" which cracked me up. I always thought Dave or Steve would be funny names for a cat.
My two are Honey and Felix.

I went to the SPCA to get one kitten and came home with two. It's actually less work as they keep each other entertained and it's easier to get them to sleep as they curl up together. They still sleep together at night as i'm too paranoid to leave them outside at night time

That name makes me think of indian food ....mmmm, tikka masala!
I don't like cutesy obvious names for pets. My cat is called Oscar (after Oscar de larenta) and the one before was Clyde. I quite like Cleopatra for a cat (although it'd probably suit a black cat more).

Our cat is Cali cause she's calico, had a ginger cat we called Merlot.
Our other cats have had proper names; Sophia and Araminta.
I named my kitten Jack after Jack from Lost as we found him in the park.
There's always Tabitha, have the girls come up with any names?
My niece named her cat Delta, she likes Delta Goodrem

We got one cat 8 years ago from the SPCA.
We were adamant to only have one cat.
A week later we were at the SPCA picking up a cheeky wee tortoiseshell.
They keep eachother company and snuggle together when it's cold.
I highly recommend getting two
But if you do stick with one, I prefer Tiggy (makes me think of Mrs. TiggyWinkle the Beatrix Potter hedgehog).
My test for naming pets is to call out their different names...
Would you feel more comfortable calling out "TIGGYY!!!', "GARY!!" or "WIDGET!!" from your doorstep at night?
hahahah GARY!!!

Gawd, Gary? Seriously?! I like Widget. A friend of mine has a cat called Gizmo, and he so suits it!
We recently got another cat and called him MontaQ, but Monty for short. Our other cat, a girl, is called Kurryn.
I like the names Daisy and Dodge. I would love a Rotty called Dodge, so fitting!

LOL that poor woman on the add having to sound like that
We've got two cats a female torti called Fantom (her face is half white and half dark like Phantom of Opera) And a grey tabby named Brock (DP was a Peter Brock fan) With Brock he was a toss up between Brock or Crikey (in Steve Irwin's honour)
We've also had in the past Cindel (from a spacie game?), Billy (after DD's imaginary friend), Max (I just liked that one), Katarh (who knows where that one came from??), Noddy (brother named him) and of course Puss.

As a crazy cat lady in the making, I also have to recommend getting two at the same time - it really works out better for the cats and can be less work for the humans! Introducing one later can cause some issues. >.>
Our family tabbies were Possum, Frog and Fidget - among the more 'normal' names our pets have ended up with.
I've always wanted to name a striped tabby 'Spot' just to be contrary.

Sorry Janine, I like Widget too! But hey, we have a cat named "Meowmi" (long story). Our Inky only got himself a decent name because his first owner did the honours. I've also had a "Duncan" and "Lola" - my family have "Jezebel" and had "Spazz" (short for Asparagus, but she was a nutter so got 'Spazz' eventually). Maybe you don't want to listen to my opinion on cat names, ha ha!

OMG, you have a cat named Paris. lol
lol our bunnies were Sarah and smudge. Paris was going through a fixation with the name Sarah when we got them, hence naming hers that. We have no idea which bunny died as they were both the same size shape colour everything. so now she gets called funny bunny.
Our fish, were fish and chips, then chips died so we got nemo, then 2 yrs later fish died so we got spot (white fish with gold spot on his face)
Oooh and Kelly - if you have a wee look you'll notice that most of the names that mel wrote down have some connection to kids toys/cartoons etc. Kelly is barbies younger sister.
Anyway, came up with more names today - we are likely to be getting 2 kittys.
What do you think of....
Ollie
Tiggy
Possum
Zorro
Zeus
Hummer
Kitty
Milo
Nipper
Jerry (like tom and jerry but in reverse)
Astro
Luna
Byte (as in gigabyte... lol can you tell mike's a computer guy?)
Wolfie (like sarafina and wolfie from barbie movies)
Bart
Pink (ayja's suggestion)
Jupjup
spike
scooter and skeeter (muppets)
bunsen and beaker (muppets again)
nermil (the kitten from garfeild)
Puff (the cat from the dick and jane books)
Skeet (mmmm skeet ulrich)
comet
am sure there's more to come.
God and i thought naming kids was hard!!!

Ahh the joys of finding a name!
I remember when my parents brought home a kitten, it took us 4 days a thousand lists, we finally decidd on a name but then noone could even remember what it was. We changed it, didnt like it, changed it again and eventually went back to the one we picked in the first place and ended up with a cat called....
Miley (before hannah montanna became big)
Cant remember other names on the list but over the years we have had pets named,
Gertie
Mooey
Fidgit
Lewie
Mounty
George/Georgie
Ollie
whitney
Manchy(Manchester)
I quite like Nermil.

Whenever I've 'named' pets we've always ended up giving them a nickname that we've wound up using more than their name!
For instance
Togi was called Woolly (Dog- a non woolly dog too )
Snoopy was called Nuff (dog)
Munch was called Roon (cat)
Wazum was called Wazzy (cat)
Harry is called Mr Harrison (Guinea pig)
We are getting a dog when we come back and so far the suggestions are-
Dave (DH)
Denny Crane (DH)
Slim Doggy (Charlotte- apparently its mean to call things little but she wants a little dog so shes going to call it slim so as not to offend it?? )
Finny (Charlotte)
We used to have a cat called Pudding- one day we were at the supermarket, I was about 5, and I said to my Mum "Oh Mum- you forgot to get some cat food for pudding!". She said she got some funny looks with that
Try calling them all out the back door and see which one feels the most natural to yell

You guys have some great names for cats!
We have just named ours after 4 days of calling her kitty, we called her indi because her eyes are indigo. I wish i read your lists earlier though!
Ive always had cats, over the years we have had
Jason... not sure why
Bambi.. i was 5 at the time
Monty...Python
Zorro
Baileys
Midori .... who can guess my favorite drink!
OJ... She was orange and slightly physcotic
Sky
Meisha
I cant believe how many bunnies you guys have had though! Ive always wanted them, but dont they scratch and claw? Maybe that was my mums way of getting out of it .
Ive always had a vision of the Monty python Holy Grail version of a bunny Scary
Im now trying to convince DH to get another kitty so Indi can have a friend. But with the 2 kids, 5 sheep, 7 lambs, 2 cows, 3 chickens, soon to have a pig, a dog and a cat i dont think im going to have much luck... and we are renting!!!

* Ollie (short for Apollo) & his brother Zeus
* Flip
* Patches (very original for a torty LOL)
* Chicago (after the Chicago White Socks LOL)
* Roxy (my sister's favourite clothing brand)
and my current 2 are
* Domino & Jazz

I like nermil! Lol.
Our cat's name is Hiro (like Hiro Nakamura off "Heroes") but most of the time we call him Manace, because he is a mischeif maker.
I agree with the two cats thing... much easier to get two kittens, they can play with each other, etc. and they don't get lonely the same when everyone is away.
We used to have two cats that we got together as kittens, a grey stripey male called Grey (original) and an orangey girl called Mango. Other than that, we have had Candy, Mindy, Peter, and Beanie for pets (not my choice of names, except Beanie and Mango).

Well we went off an looked at them and i fell in love with 1 that really stood our for me - the only one out of the lot that's really fluffy and the only one that has a white tummy and white "socks" absolutely gorgeous. mike likes one of the less fluffy dark tabby ones. the rest are all very similar.
We just have to wait, cos another couple they know got hold of her before us and want first dibs to pick, once they are all weaned in a 2 weeks or so.
So i am hoping against all hope that they do not pick my favourite wee fluffy one or i surely will cry! I did say to my friend that I really really wanted that one and to try and steer them away from it. so we'll see i guess.
Anyway from that we have chosen our names.
The dark tabby (there's a couple that are dark) mike wants to call Jett - no matter if it's a girl or boy, as in Jett-black
And the fluffy one, which i am sure is a girl but can't completely tell - I am going to call Luna for a girl (which i really hope it is), or Astro for a boy.
so, Jett and Luna/Astro.
eeeeeek I can't wait. keep your fingers crossed that I get my little fluff-ball.
We even have the bed, the litter tray, the toys, the food, and i have made a cute little blankie for the bed out of fluffy plush material.
i just want them.
