I'm looking for a new (or secondhand, but new to us) buggy for us. Currently we only have the Quinny Zap, which drives me batty as it's more umbrella stroller than buggy and I want buggy 
I'm thinking the P&T Sport (I like the option of the doubles kit but probably wouldn't get it straight away as Z likes to walk) or the Mountain Buggy Urban / Urban elite (randomly - does anyone know what the difference between elite and not are?) I've never used either brand, have no particular brand loyalty. I've heard people who rave about both brands equally.... so no idea really! Open to opinions and experiences! ------------- Margo |

I think the main difference between the MB Urban and the Elite is the print!
I have a P&T Sport and my good friend has the MB. We have done a few comparisons as we both love our buggys. So this is what we found: MB reclines and sits up heaps easier than the P&T. Not as jerky and disruptive to the child. MB brake is heaps easier. P&T lighter to push. P&T is narrower than the MB. She gets stuck in a couple of shops that I have no problems in. P&T has the toddler seat/doubles kit which means you don't have to buy a new buggy. This could be your last buggy purchase. We both have small cars so little boots. The P&T folds smaller and fits in my boot easy. The MB doesn't go near my boot (yes, I did try as she got her MB first and I was trying to decide what to get!). She needs to take the wheels of her MB to get it in her boot but the P& T fits in her boot no problems. Hope that helps! Not all that scientific but just things we noticed. -------------

The difference between a MB Urban and MB Urban elite is the fabric that is used. The elite version is made from a hardier wearing canvas material, compared to the thinner plastic material used on the urban. Also, the elite comes with with the seat cover thing as well.
The only problem with the PT double buggies is that due to the design of most of them, they are harder to manouvere, due to the dispersion of weight and the size of the wheels. MB are designed to last for a very long time. I'm not sure how long PT last for in terms of durability, but the ones I do see seem to get grubby pretty fast. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We've got a P&T Dash where the brakes are in the handle rather than a foot brake by the rear wheels which I think is what the Sport has. The handle brake is much easier to use. Have to agree with Peanut though about the P&T being being rather jerky to recline and sit up but I think I've got it down to a fine art now. Also, we went for the P&T because it folded smaller and was easier for me to lift into the boot of my car (I'm only 5 ft tall) so if height is an issue then make sure you look for something that you can lift easily without breaking your back. -------------

The fabric on the Urban Elite is canvas where as on the Urban its a canvas lookalike. Also the elite has the seat liner and nappy bag. We got the urban elite for TOm (only the best as new parents...with incomes) but have just bought a double MTB and just went with Urban. We have added a sheepskin liner so I dont see the advantage in that and unless you wanted the buggie to last decades I think the material is fine.
I tried a friends P&T and found manouverability harder even though it was narrower. I could get down a step on a corner where she couldnt and needed my help. Also, with the MTB covers they unzip so you can access bubs from the front without having to take the cover off but the P&T one had to be completely removed...a PIA in rain. But maybe a universal cover could solve that.
I think each to their own and you would be happy with either purchase. |

We have a P&T sport (blue camo colour, its a very funky looking pram). Main reason being that I needed a double with 2 under 2. I like it, although we mainly use it as a single now for bubs now that DS#2 is bigger. You do have to buy all the extras seperately with the P&Ts. I know they have brought out a newer version now which I think its the one Trud&Em is talking about, the dash.

We first had a mountain buggy urban and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. We have sold it after two years due to having another baby and needing a double buggy. Have now got a Phil and Teds. MIss my mountain buggy heaps - they push so much easier and feel much more sturdy and better made IMO. My husband agrees.
In saying that though if you know you want to have two children quite close together it is prob best to go straight for Phil and Teds and not ending up having to replace your buggy like what we did. If it is just for one child and you get out and walk heaps then mountain buggies are awesome. |

Just a note with the P&T - if you start finding it a bit hard to push and manouvre, we've found that it might be because the tires need pumping - pump them up and then it's much easier again. Just like a car's tyres I s'pose, you start to notice when they need air and afterwards it's like a brand new car - much the same with the P&T - so we've found anyway. -------------

Definitely agree re: the tyres, and the more weight you have on them the more often they need pumping up.
We have a Phil and Teds which is perfect for us as it can take both gremlins, or I can use it as a single for lil miss if they're walking. There are some things about it that irk me (can't fold it with the toddler seat on, the brake is a PITA etc.) but overall it was the best option and a thousand times better than the twin buggy I used to have! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I've got the MB Designer and I love it. Although the only problem I see with it is that it just fits into my sisters car and my dads car. Fits into ours perfectly.
I've also used Emma's P&T for Cooper when we've been out and I found driving it quite difficult the first time. Yes the brake was a real biarch to use too. The P&T did feel lighter to push though. ------------- Mr Mellow (16) Miss Attitude (8) Destructa Kid (3)

We looked at the MB and P&T Sport and got the sport after spending ages deciding. We played around with both models (know people who have them both) and i preferred the P&T because it was lighter and I'll be using it more than DH. Also we live rurally and people i know with a P&T said it was no problems on gravel roads. Am wondering how im going to get on with the brake though -------------  Angel Baby Aug '12, Feb '13 |

| Phil & Teds! Phil & Teds! Sorry I'm a complete fanatic of this brand. I was exactly in your shoes before I had my daughter and didn't know which to buy, but I'm so pleased we went with the Phil n Teds. We bought the cocoon to go inside it and used this so much when we stayed overnight or on holiday in the first few months. We got ours through Kiwibaby and the toddler seat was free, we bought the frame to make it into a bouncer and this has been sooo useful - to take away, plus to feed before baby can hold themselves up. We bought the travel bag and have just come back from a week in Fiji where the stroller was excellent on the beach and in the recline position we could take Ella to dinner every night fast asleep. We also purchased the travel cot which was light, easy to put up and as like the pram, such good quality. Other women in my ante natal group who have MBs wish they had now got Phil n Teds. |
