Anyone seen a girl , about yay high , brown curly hair, sparkly brown eyes , oliveish skin around ? if you have , could you send her home please ?
My daughter has been replaced by an inferior copy , and quite frankly , it just wont do ....

Yesterday , DF bought me very nice massage bath salt stuff , from Crabtree and Evelyn ...for reasons known only to the "copys" self , she decided to fill it with water...now its blue gunk .
And then earlier , she calls me into the lounge, to look on the ceiling ...and oh ! hardy ha blardy ha, what do you know ? she has taken the mince out of the packet that I had thawing for dinner, and rolled it into little balls and thrown it on the ceiling !
Impressed? not in this household

So , I would really like my daughter, who knows better than to touch things that dont belong to her , to please return home, because im sure her second hand copy is getting tired of time out ....

That is very weird.

Do you think she could be reacting to your pregnancy and/or wedding planning???? (just typing out loud)

What did you do when you found the mince? What was her reaction to your reaction?

I said " oh look ,,theres mince on the ceiling " , she laughed , I took the mince OFF the ceiling first (because it was going to fall) and then i knelt down to her level and said "Caitlyn ,that mince was for dinner ...why did you throw it on the ceiling ?" , she said "i dont know" and i said "do you think it was a good thing to do ?"
"no "
"why not ?"
"because now its hairy and we cant eat it "
"yes thats right, it isnt a good thing to do , because now i have to find something else to cook for dinner "
"im sorry mummy "
"thankyou Caitlyn , for saying sorry , I forgive you " ( i dont believe in Buts etc after you say im sorry , or i forgive you if you need a "but" then your not ready to apologise/forgive )

I was probably way too soft on her, and should have put her in timeout , but she did seem very contrite and was able to explain why it wasn't a good thing to do ...gah ! i dont know ! children !

oh and when i said "oh look , theres mince on the ceiling " it wasnt to make her laugh, i was in a state of shock ...and was more talking to myself .....

Hmm reading that seems like she was wanting a little bit of attention, I'm like you I don't like the "but" word when you're going thru that whole scenario.

I'd just keep an eye on her, and maybe check in with her to make sure she's ok and if theres anything on her mind....

I hope it's just a phase.

yeah , I think your right Mel, I think she was wanting a bit of attention, so attention is what she will get ...but in a good way !
and i think a "mummy Caitlyn date " may be in order ...

Just be careful that she doesn't see the date as a reward... by that I mean.. dont' make it a big deal, because the last thing you want is for her to think that each time she plays up, that she will get mummy's attention and a date...

Lol!!  Mince on the ceiling???  Where do kids come up with these things???  And it's funny how she said you can't eat the mince now cos it's hairy!  How does hair get on the ceiling?  Oh she's a funny little girl.

Hope you found something else to make for dinner.  And that your kind & sweet little angel princess Caitlyn returns home soon.

yeah, Mel,i will wait a few days before doing a date, and it will only be for good behaviour , so it will be a reward for that .
Will still give her some attention , although lately her favourite thing has to sing Mama Mia songs...and as much as I love the movie...hearing "money money money " for the billionth time is a bit trying ...but we can find plenty to do

LOL Italiah , i have a feeling she rolled the mince into balls on the carpet first , hence the hairiness ...

Daizy ...I think i was in too much shock haha , and I try to live by the "dont sweat the small stuff " mantra...but it is hard at times like this

Yikes! Well done you for dealing with it so well!

But I have to admit I was kinda giggling about the mince on the ceiling .. where on earth did that idea come from?!

I think the Mummy & Caitlyn date sounds like a great idea... When the real Caitlyn comes home I mean

the things we put up with when we have or are about to have a new addition aye?

Lucretia used to throw the biggest tantrums just before/and just after Keziah was born and she was 10 at the time so it doesn't get any easier the older they get!!
We have to ensure that she gets some 'mum' time each week to prevent it happening! We don't always go out places or to places that cost money at least.... we read together, do girly things like make up, go for a walk and every now and then the girls (including Keziah) go somewhere together, like this weekend we're all off to the P & C show just to get away from the boys

I can see where she gets her sense of Humour from Kelly....LOL

But yah I must admit, Its very creative of her!!

I also think that she is unsure how to react to the new family to be...specially when she was the centre of attention for 6 years!!

I agree with others she needs special attention every so often so that she knows that she will always be special girl to you! I dont think she is ready to share you with sooo many people!

She will come around tho ...you handled it quite well!!

haha, she was really only the centre of attention for 4 years, tho that is a long time in kids minds ....tho , as far as shes concerned she still IS the centre of attention ....

Her favourite phase for a long time has been "you don't care about me " to which i reply , calmly and firmly.
"caitlyn , I love you more than anything in the world , I hope you know that deep down "
GAH !!! the overdramaticness ! the diva-ness ! the GAH-NESS!!!

By knowing that in a few minutes...I can go to the toilet and laugh out the window ......

And I guess cos my motto in parenting has always been , "there is worse that can happen " I dont want mine and C's relationship to be always telling her off ...I'll let her know its not a good thing, but I know the worst thing that could happen is losing her ,so I make sure that I keep that always in the back of my mind ....perhaps Im just getting more patient in my old age ...
