Yes I'm going tomorrow hopefully (skiving off work)

I think the freebies were far better when my two oldest were babies we'd come home with heaps of huggies and treasures samples way more than the entry cost.

But I still love going anyway and you do still get a heap of freebies. Make sure you get a "Reach Me" pack they are usually really good.

We are heading there tomorrow, had Mum and Dad tee'd up to have Jack for months!
Haven't been since 2006 when I was about 10wks pg. Got some great specials although I hear a rumor that the specials may not be as good this year due to the NZ$. ONly thing I didn't like when I was there last was the crowds, but then I was pg and had ms! Hoping that by getting there when it opens tomorrow we will avoid the worst of the crowds

I went this morning and enjoyed it. I thought last year had more freebies but that was when I was pg so possibly because I went to different stalls this time. I did buy some books for $2 each, a spare safety sleep for $60 and a few other bits n pieces. I bought our Phil and Teds pram there last year and saved heaps. There are definately bargains there.

I completely missed the OhBaby stand though - gutted! My friend couldn't find it either so I'm glad I'm not the only one who was blind.

Oh by the way - it is sooo much easier to go when you have a pram to carry all the things you get

Hubby and I went along today with little Miss M in tow!! We had a blast but spent far too much money on stuff we shouldn't have!!!!

We went *intending* to only get whatever freebies we could lay our hands on and enter all the competitions and instead walked out with all the freebies AND a new Nature's Sway cling (don't know why I didn't get one sooner!!!!!!!) and a couple of gorgy new nappies from the Bumbles stand (Fancy Pantz!! You so have to go check them out and they were an awesome show special too!!!!!!).

I don't know that it was as good as the first year we went freebie wise but we still got a surprising amount out it overall which was great.

We went today, popped in and said hi to Katherine!

We got bags of stuff. Lots of Nappies and of course my Reachme Pack which had great samples in it.

I got 4 Silly Billyz Pocket Bibs for $20 and a pair of Jack & Abby Jeans and two tops for $20.

We went right on 10, so I think they were being quite generous with their sample giving. I must say that the lady on the Huggies stand was quite rude to myself and my sister!

I bought the coolest thing, a "personalised baby plate"! It has COOPER then a nz flag and his date of birth, very similar to the european licence plates.

Cooper is getting a trike for christmas so I couldn't resist!

I thought there were hardly any freebies compared to last year. Huggies were a bit of a let down too and we were told that they aren't giving out samples of the larger sized nappies. Livvy's only 9kg so I guess they're only giving out Newborn and/maybe Infant sizes.

I had a really good chat with the TotsBots lady and came away with a trial pack of their new Flexitots - the covers feel amazing.

I want to get one of those necklaces with your kids fingerprints on it. I thought they were so cool.

I must've just got the same person as Mel on the Huggies stand.

The stand was called Fingerprints but I can't remember where abouts it was in the hall. Over in the right-hand side with the smaller stalls. Their webpage says stall M7 if that helps?? Geeze, I just looked at their prices on their webpage and I think I changed my mind. I was in a hurry going past to feed Livvy and didn't ask how much they cost.

I'm going to contact the fingerprint company...I really like their stuff!!!

At Huggies we got a pull up, nappy pant and swimmer (probably only because DH and I went up separately! hehehe)

Found the Ohbaby stand and thanks Angela for my back issue and was great to meet you.

I went yesterday with my also pregnant sister - we spent 5 hours walking around and apart from my very swollen feet at the end of it we both thought it was great.

Met Katherine and some of the other ladies at the OB stand - it was great chatting to you and putting faces to names. Of course I subscribed ..

We didn't visit every stand but in general found most things we were looking for. Missed the Weleda and Medela stands (where they there?) and was quite disappointed with the Snazzipants stand - I found the lady was quite rude and unhelpful (I was looking for additional boosters but obviously didn't buy any from there).

We found the space was good (plenty of room for prams etc) and we didn't seem to get pushed around so much as other years. But the layout was shocking. The map showed it as quite uniform but when you were actually there it was hard to make heads and tails of where you had been and where you hadn't - or was that our 'baby brains'? hehehe lol

We went today and thought it was good value. We got a ton of nappy samples, toddler milk samples and washing powder (they were in the reach me packs as well as the eco stand). Dissappointing not to see watties, golden circle or any other food/drink places.

The parent area smelt like pooy nappy at about 11am, hate to think what it smelt like by the end of the day.

We didn't buy a lot but got Caleb photographed at the Oh Baby stand and he's got a new sippy cup that he is very proud of.

Hi ladies, and how lovely it was to see so many of you at the P&C Show this weekend! I worked on the stand for almost every minute of the Show, so I got to meet all kinds of interesting people, some OHbaby! members, some new to us. It was very cool to hand out magazines and hear feedback and coo over all of the cute little ones getting their photos taken. Now, of course, I am totally wasted and have spent most of the day sleeping, and I piked on poor Bizzy, whom I was supposed to meet for afternoon tea today. It was a really full-on weekend! But a fun one.

I saw a lot of cool things at the Show, and stocked up on some stuff myself (cheap Ecostore washing powder, yay -- I made DH buy a case of it when he popped in yesterday -- and some new nappies). I also had a good nosy at the other stands to see what was new. Womama had all their beautiful lingerie there, and I probably scared one of their customers off by blindsiding her with my enthusiastic speech about how much I love Womama's leisure pants. She backed away quickly... Sorry, Womama girls! I'll keep my raving to the pages of the magazine and let you talk to your customers!

it was really cool to talk to some of the other small businesses we've made a point to introduce to our readers through the magazine -- Innature, Made4Baby, Twinkle-Star, and Brolly Sheets especially. It's so cool to see our homegrown Kiwi businesses succeeding with such innovative products.

Some of the big stands were also good to visit, like Huggies, because they usually had "experts" working so I could ask all of my nosy questions about nappies and their other products. They're so popular, they do get swamped, so I saved visiting them til the end of the day yesterday so I could have a good chat!

I also got some good leads on new and interesting products and services to feature in the magazine, so keep a look out for the next issue.

What about the rest of you? What did you most like about the Show? What were your best deals? What new stuff did you find out about? And what would you like to see done differently next year? We were at both the Wellington and Auckland P&C Shows, and they were very different experiences, so it's certainly something to think about. I'd love to hear what you all think.

Hi Katherine - sounds like you had a lot of fun, but you must be knackered now. A nice quiet week for you hopefully!

For what its worth, my thoughts on the show...

- Parents room was YICK. Smelly, really overcrowded, dark, no handwashing / sinks, not enough room to move buggies around. Thought they should have had more than one area like this to deal with the numbers (maybe they did and I just didnt find it!).

- Nappies, Nappies, Nappies....thought that the cloth nappy people were really helpful and forthcoming with information, but the staff working on the big brand disposable stalls were rude, unhelpful and just interested in getting through the queues. I was trying to ask the guy on the Huggies stand about Oli leaking at night, and he couldnt / wouldnt offer any advise and basically said "would you like a sample swim nappy"...stuck that in a bag, along with 2 samples of Poise pads (what are you trying to say Mister?!?!?) and sent me on my way!

- Stall staff.....quite often I found it quite hard to know who was working a stall vs who was looking at products. An example of this (sorry I LOVE their stuff too) was Womama....I really wanted to ask someone some questions about their lingerie (which is yummy), but couldnt figure out who worked there and couldnt see anyone obvious to ask.

- Baby Food / Nutrician....thought it was dissapointing not to have any representation from the baby food companies. Especially when the formula companies were heavily represented.

- Adult food / drinks....thought that it would have been nice to have more food and drink choices for grown ups. Very limited options.

- Sticker printing....thought this was a fantastic idea. Great way to save time, especially if like Oli, your little one gets grumpy if you stop in one place too long!

Overall, I guess I didnt think that it was that great. I think if you have a newborn or are expecting then its prob great, but for me personally, I didnt feel that there was a lot there for toddlers IYWKIM.

It was fantastic to see the OB ladies, and to see how busy their stand was too! Cant wait to see the cover photos, what a fantastic idea!!! Well Done!!!

I had a good day but now after reading the comments I too am disappointed about the baby/toddler food company's not being there. They were on my list of things I wanted to see as I have such a fussy eater it's good to try samples rather than waste heaps of money on stuff that never gets eaten.

I do think it is better for preggie woman or newish babies as once they reach toddler stage there aren't as many interesting stands. Not sure I'll bother with it again. Probably take the big girls to GDO instead.

I'm very glad I snuck off from work without Alyssa as she would of hated being stuck in her pram in the crowds. And thankfully we didn't have to use the change room. Although I did last year and it was hopeless then too.

I got caught out at the Ohbaby stand (was with a friend who knows nothing about my online life) hehe Nice to see you guys anyway.

I did get a couple of bargain I just wish I had more money to spend.

Finally in defence of huggies.
Ok for what it's worth I went to the huggies stand twice.
The first time I had a rather over worked guy who seemed to be managing two cues, but in saying that he was very pleasant and still had a little time to talk to us he gave me a sample of nappy pants and a little swimmer.
Then just before we left I raced back to see if they had any toddler size samples but sadly they were not doing any nappy samples except newborn this year. anyway the lady i spoke to was lovely (I'm lucky I guess) she gave me some pull ups and a newborn sample bag (for my friend who wasn't even there)

Just on the topic of companies you wanted to see who *weren't* there, it would be worth your while to write to them to tell them you missed them. All of the exhibitors who choose to come to the Parent & Child Show have to pay for their stand and the hireage of the equipment on their stand, so it's a very expensive exercise for businesses, especially small businesses. But perhaps if they knew you were looking for them, they'd consider budgeting to come next year. Food for thought!

We went on Sunday and found it quite good. A lot of the stuff that was there we weren't overly enthused by but I think that's just because we 'already have that' or 'we're not going to be using that'. But in saying that it was nice to see the options all in one place.

We went to the OhBaby stand but I was too shy to introduce myself. DH was thrilled with the free mag, made a beeline for it as soon as he saw you were giving them away.

I was hoping that Montessori would have a stand there as this is where we are looking to send our little mite but unfortunately they didn't.

Did anyone else come across the guy that was selling the seat belt things for preggy women? Geez that guy p*ssed me off, I nearly kicked him. I found him quite rude and accusatory in the way he spoke to me.

Really enjoyed the show though and saw so many gorgeous bubbas there.
