I was so pleased that the right verdicts were returned in the Nia Glassie case.
But I am confused... her mum got convicted of TWO counts of manslaughter. How can you get convicted of two counts when there is only one person who has died? Anyone know? |

Not 100% certain how it works but I was told one charge was for not seeking medical attention which resulted in Nia's death and the other was for not providing a safe, healthy environment for her, which ultimately resulted in Nia's death.

Yeah, makes sense. I just thought manslaughter was like murder - you can't get convicted of two counts of murder for one killing.
But I guess manslaughter is about the deeds leading to unintentional death, so it is possible to have multiple deads. Just had never seen that before! |

1 was for failing to ensure that nia was cared for correctly whilst in the care of others
