Right since we have hijacked the Hubbys topic I thought I would start a weddings post!!
So if your married - did you have a formal wedding, a casual wedding, did you spend money on certain things and got other things that weren't so "important" to you for cheaper?
Our wedding we are planning on $8000 - main spends are my dress ($900), catering ($4010), Photographer ($1500), Flowers ($500), Rings (tbd)
The Hall we are using for the reception is $100 for the whole weekend , Celebrant is $150, Hiring the groomsparty stuff (David wearing a kilt, groomsman wearing hired suits / tux) and the bridesmaids are paying half to get theirs made.
Cake we are getting a friend to make (1 tier chocolate, 1 tier banana!) and pretty much everything else in on the cheap!!
Ne one got ideas on how to save money at reception? We arent going on a honeymoon straight after the wedding as it will be calving season on the farm and is full on so thinking of going to Hawaii, Rarotonga, Fiji or Australia next June!!

We had a formal wedding but all up cost $17k
We got married at Old Saint Pauls - $900
Reception at The Duxton Hotel - $4000 +
Photos at Parliment Grounds - $1700 for photographer
Dress - $1600
Accessories - $300
Guys Suits - $180 i think from memory but the groomsmen paid for their own
Bridesmaids gowns - paid for by themselves
Flowers - $475
Cake - $400
and thats the basics lol
My biggest piece of advice is when ordering things for your wedding dont state its a wedding just state its a bday or something then you will notice a significant difference in prices esp for cake and flowers.
In terms of your gown down here there is a guy in palmy u see and get fitted at and get ur fabric from then a little old lady down here makes the dress for $100 and bridesmaids $80. Thats a cost saver
Congrats and its so exciting planning a wedding We added a personal touch to our wedding reception with making gingerbread men and women for everyone and decorating them lol they were amusing!!!
Also we used friends cars, 2x Altezzas, Ford Typhoon and Holden HSV. Didnt cost a cent
We could have cut corners on so much stuff but i didnt i wanted the whole shabang! I kinda wish i had of now coz it felt like in total the whole day took 2 hours lol
Heres some pics of our big day i thought i did well considering i felt hella sick lol (morning sickness)
The last photo is my fav

Our wedding was about as simple as it gets, but not as boring as some people imagine registry weddings to be ! And it's not that there isn't part of me that would love a big fancy elaborate wedding, but there is a bigger part of me that "doesn't see the point" so to speak (have very strong feelings about how its so NOT about the wedding but the marriage that matters).
*ahem* Anyway...
Mum ended up helping out with a lot of things that I didn't even ask her for, because I think she was kind of hooked on the 'big wedding' idea and didn't want to feel left out. My dress was $200 from Mummy's Tummy, and is one I can wear again. She also bought me a proper wee posey of flowers in light pinkish colors, not sure what that cost. Oh ! She also bought my shoes, from Kumfs (not as daggy as that sounds) which I can also wear again as I already had a pair like them but in a different color (and loved to bits) - AND she made me pick out some dark colored pearls to wear as well, and used some money my grandma had put into a bonus bonds account for that.
The paperwork (registration) was $120 and it was an additional $50 to book the registry office in town, and if you do that you get the room for half an hour - it seats up to 30 people but we only had eight including us ! Sooo what else... Roland already had his ring, we just took it off him in the morning and put it in a box LOL And mine was very very plain, but it was really all I wanted, just a thin gold band about $75 from Michael Hill.
We had brunch at a restaurant in Mission Bay, De Fontein (and yes, I know it's a Belgian beer bar LOL), because they had a really excellent brunch menu as well as a balcony - the weather was fantastic and we had a great view of the water from where we were sitting. I think all up including drinks that cost us about $280, which was less than we were expecting.
*scratches head* As far as who was actually there it was me and Rols of course, my mum and her partner, his mum and her husband (she's a kiwi but he's American and they live in Colorado), plus our two friends (a couple) Alf & Anna (whom I met via police training... hehehe).
I wouldn't have changed anything really, I managed to cry only a little bit when Roland was reading the 'vows' he wrote (the legal part with the celebrant only takes about 15 mins tops), and had our own music that we wanted playing as well.
After brunch we went home and crashed, then got changed and went out to the movies - my surprise pressie to Roland was two Gold Class tickets to see Walk the Line, man was that ever fun !! Having drinks (ginger beer for me) and ordering yummy food right to our big comfy seats... hehehe
I can't believe it's been two and a half months, things are still awesome and have been since the day we met That's another thing actually, we met on Valentines Day, and so that's when we decided to get married - as corny as it sounds LOL
So to finish off my novel, and although I know you ladies have seen it before, here's a photo (*ahem* or three) !
Ok, so that's four, LOL My bad !

We are in planning with ours!!
We are getting married on November 11th this year so we are juggling baby #2 plans and wedding plans at once.
Quite hectic trust me... so any tips are welcomed my way!
We have budgeted 12,000. Our main spends so far are the reception $4500 and photographer $1500. Still have my dress and our rings to find.
We have also saved a little money with people paying for things as wedding gifts. For example, our DJ, Wedding Night, Cake and Flowers are all wedding gifts.
Also, a family member is desigining and printing our invites so we only have to pay for the paper etc.
CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR WEDDING DAY!!!!

Ohhh I am so excited about this thread - I just looove weddings and can't to hear all about everybody's special day.
We got married in my home town of Molong a little tin pot one about 4 hours west of Sydney. It was actually Roger's idea to have it there despite him being from NZ.
The service was in a garden on a property called "Playtypus Hollow" which was just gorgeous. I had the service done by a minister that I knew really well through my work in Sydney even though neither of us are at all religious. (His wife worked for me) Cost $100 for the venue and I gave the Pastor $200, a bottle of local wine and paid for their accomodation the night before in the b&b on the property.
Photos done at the property, at and in the local pub (our favourite local), then at the reception venue. $1500 for photographer.
The reception was held at a place called "The Convent" which is again another local property that was originally a school, convent and church in the early 1900's. Very rustic, very romantic and very beautiful. It was in May so we had an open fire, and the only lighting came from lots and lots of fairy lights and candles. The catering was $60 per head but there were no other charges for the hall etc. We provided all the alcohol so that was a huge saving. We also stayed here on the night in this cute little cottage that was an old school house.
I lived near a wholesale rose grower in Sydney so bought 13 dozen roses and 3 kilos of petals for $160. I then had my mums neighbour (who was training to be a florist)do up all the flowers for the wedding party and parents etc. Then the remainder of the roses were used to decorate the reception, ceremony and the room we stayed in. The smell was amazing in the hall (ohh such lovely memories).
We had crisp white table cloths and gold organza runners the length of each table. (We only had 36 people so 2 long tables set up + the bridal table) Then 3 candelabra's on each table and rose petals sprinkled all over with lots of tiny glass bowls with tea light candles in them. We did the decorating ourselves so the cost was maybe $60 all up. My grandma -who died 2 months after my wedding at 91, did the majority of the flower arranging god bless her The candleabras, huge vases etc we used were supplied at the hall.
Music was by a group of local young guys who are Jazz/soft rock - cost $200
Our bridal waltze was to Eric Clapton "The way you look tonight" and then Van Morrisons " Someone like you"
My dress $2000 made by a "Joseph" (gay designer in Sydney). I only went to look for my dress 8 weeks out from the day expected to pull one off the rack at
ohhh say $300 ish.................. nah ah!! Mad rush to find one as after the 1st dress I tried on I burst into tears cause I felt like a princess and just went I don't care cost I just want it to be perfect!!!!. Shoes $90, accessories $150 + make up, hair, nails etc. In a nut shell a bloody lot of money to feel gorgeous for 1 day!!!! In hindsight it seems such a waste but on the day "priceless".
We honeymooned for 2 weeks in Thailand got back and moved to NZ 3 days later. Had a major family feud on the day of the wedding because of a sh*thead brother that probably did ruin the day in some respects. But hey, how many weddings go off without a hitch?
So that is my very long story "sorry" - that has certainly brought back so many lovely memories for me. The lead up too and the day (until the fight) was the most exciting and wonderful time of life. (yes even more so than having my chidren shhhh..... don't tell them though! It is our 2nd anniversary next week and we are hopefully going to have our 1st night away from Sam over in the Wairapa - can't wait for a nice night alone with my gorgeous husband. Ohh and we married on exactly 1 year to the day after we met.
Taken on the road just outside where the reception was held "out in the wop wops"

Okay... my turn.
Nathaniel and I got married in the French Rose Garden at the Hamilton Gardens (cost: $100 donation). Our pastors performed the ceremony (free), and our parents were involved as well. Nathaniel's Dad led Nat and I in communion just after we did our vows, then all our parents gathered around us with our pastors and prayed over us (my Dad is not a christian, but he stood up there in support anyway).
My bridesmaids made their black skirts and royal blue tops themselves from a pattern I supplied ($15) as their wedding present to us. We bought white shirts for the groomsmen ($50 for two! ), and a black shirt for Nat ($50). My dress was made for me from my design by a woman in Hamilton ($570 including material) who also made a matching tie for Nathaniel ($35).
Our flowers were done by our pastor's wife, who was a florist. She knew one of the rose-growers, so got everything at the price he sells to stores! $90 for my long-stemmed roses, two smaller bunches for the bridesmaids, three buttonholes for Nat and the boys, and buttonholes and corsages for each of our parents.
Our photos were a wedding gift, we expected to pay for film and in the end didn't have to pay for anything. We had our photos taken in the Hamilton Gardens in the morning before our 2pm ceremony, and that worked really well. Kiya was our flowergirl, my mum made her dress and I made her basket ($20 all up) which was filled with the petals from all the flowers Nat had given me to that point.
Our reception was held at Eastside Apostolic Church in Hamilton, which wasn't actually our church, but ours wasn't in their own place at the time of our wedding. We had a large room, and full kitchen facilities, and cleaning afterwards for $160!
A woman from our church catered our buffet-style afternoon tea reception meal for $750 for 80 people, and we supplied punch and sparkling grape juice to drink ($100). We had chicken nibbles, gourmet pizzas, heaps of fresh fruit platters, cheese and cracker platters, mini steak kebabs, mini samosas and spring rolls with dipping sauces... that sort of thing. Our reception was at 4pm, and was all finished by 5:30pm.
We hired all the white tablecloths, plates, glasses, and cutlery from Party Hire (sorry, can't remember how much that cost... around $300 I think).
Our chocolate mud cake was made by a friend from church for $200, which was basically at cost. I hired two heart-shaped tins ($40 including returnable bond) and he made the cake to suit, then rose petals were put all over it.
Umm... our rings we bought from Pascoes... mine was specially made as it was very small and they were reducing the width to match my engagement ring... less gold used made for a cheaper ring, though. Nat's was actually a woman's sizing so that was cheaper too! Weird, size R is considered the biggest of the ladies sizes, and is $100 cheaper than size S, the smallest of the men's sizes!
End of novel! Anyway, here's a photo (sorry, it's the only one scanned in at the moment):

Jeszika I love your flowers. We had bright orange gerbras.
We got married at the band rotunder in the CHCH gardens then had our reception at the Papanui Working mens club restaurant which I might add was soooo cheap but really nice. I think it was only about $22.50 per head for a full buffet and of course the drinks are cheap at wmc's
My wedding dress as I said before was only $300 off trade me my father in law paid for the guys hire and we paid for my bridesmaid. our flower girl had a matching white dress like mine and she looked so pretty. On the tables we put little fortune chocolates which everyone liked cos they were a bit different and was a great converstion starter (can be found on the internet and I think they have them all over NZ and are really cheap)
Apart from food and booze we spent the most on the photographer because really thats all you have after the day and Im really happy we did, in saying that she was only $800 and we got to keep the negatives. another idea for something a little different, instead of everyone signing a book or teddy we had a big frame and aisle made by my MIL and have everyone sign it and then put our favourite wedding photo in it, its a black and white picture and i had the flowers coloured so its really cool, well I think so anyway.
Oh and we walked down the aisle to Enyas 'only time' and had Van Morrision ' I'll be your lover too' as our first dance, what did everyone else have?

This is what I would like, still haven't set a date yet, though.
Evening wedding, around 8pm, lots of candles and fairy lights. For food, continuous supper of finger food - antipasto platters, cheese, breads, dips etc, fresh fruits, chocolates, pastries and my fave, devils on horseback.
A dj, or Juke box, although I plan on making CDs for some part of it, I am a music nut so I have definate Ideas about that!!
For up the asile I'd like "love not given lightly" by Chris Knox, "have I told you lately" by Van morrison or "she's the one" by my idol Robbie. For the dance "some one like you" by Van the Man or "love your ways" by Salmonella Dub or "don't want to miss a thing" by aerosmith oOR (long list) Fatih Hill's "beathe"...oh, yeah, i just remembered, Rod had better have an input for that too...He'd probably pick some epic by pink Ffloyd or a cold chisel number...
I will probably hire mine nad the bridesmaids dresses. Rings and Bridesmaids jewellery will be cheap as i get a wicked good discount at work.
The colour I like is paua, so I'd like the theme to be that, with bits of smashed up shells etc. Rods sister will do the flowers, and I would like paeonies,a nd we will probably get married in her MONSTER garden, or on the beach at her holiday home in the marlborough sounds. No idea where the reception will be, or photos, can get free HSV jholdens, although I would liek a Damlier, but would have to pay for that...
Phew. Novel. ideas etc appreciated!

Sounds good, Annie!
We were really lucky in our wedding cars - two of my Mum's workmates (who were living together) had quite new BMWs. We supplied the ribbon and a dozen beer, and they showed up at our place to pick us up with the cars all clean, and he was in white shirt, black pants, and she was in white shirt, black skirt. Very nice!

oooh lots of typos. Looks like Rod has no input, but this is his second time, and his first weddings reception was at a RUGBY CLUB, and he wants ours to be a bbq at a rugby club.. I actually hate rugby, so NO.
He's happy to go along with me as long as it's not to dear or falmboyant. I want simple and elegant and classy. Night time, as his mates are big boozers, so lesss time for power drinking if we have to be out of venue by 1am (fingers crossed) so cheaper bar tab... I have 2 tearaway neice and nephew, and don't want to cause a stir by not inviting them, so I figure a night time wedding will be adults only (except Jacob) Sounds harsh, but I want everyone to enjoy our day. I will be able to organise heaps of sitters through Parents Centre. Also, lots of people will be coming from ages away, so I figure we will have all day to spend with our friends and family, children included, as I am planning on having a big shared lunch for them all. phew!

Bear in mind you can have your photos before the wedding ceremony aswell we weighed up that option coz i really wanted photos in the gardens at te papa but were to late at night

We got married in February this year- total cost just over $17000.
Reception- $10000
Ceremony- $800
Dress- $900
Grooms etc- $500
Bridesmaids- $800
Flowers- $800
Plus jewellery, flowergirl, hair etc etc
We were married in this cute little historical church and had a great reception with about 70 odd people. The bar tab came to over $3000! I walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing Canon, Pachelbel and our wedding dance was a rumba to 'two steps behind' by Def Leppard- we went to dancing lessons which were so much fun! Everything was really traditional- my dream wedding

We had a very simple day, but the best day of my life(next to giving birth). My day started at ym friends house where we had a very nice breakfsat. Then off to my SIL house to get ready on arriving there bot omy friends had arrived to start on makeup and hair(they did this all for nothing) My friend tat was doing hair did not want to do mine so she paid for me to go to a saloon that was so much fun for me I never go and get my hair done. Then my BIL went to pick my Dad up from his hotel he wore a kilt my bridesmaide's drove them selves. The best bit for me was seeing my dad's face when he saw me it was so cool I have never seen him look so proud. Anyway we had a retired minster dso the cermony at Pete Parets church I had my dream and walked down the asile to bag pipes. I am such a cry baby I cried through our whole service. Wnhen we were sighning the register my best frien sang Heaven by DJ Sammy it was so beautiful. Then we did the best part we had Alan dedicated(sor of like a christening)When we did this all the family came up a prayed with us it was so meaningful even Pete's Mum came up(she was very sick this day). After the cermony we went off to have photo's taken in Brookland's park our photo's were taken for fress by a friend she also developed and put them in a album for us. Then back to the churh where we had afternoon tea that we had cater's do. we then spent oue wedding night at a lovely bed and breakfast by the sea which was a wedding pressy from pur friend's. All credit for our wedding goes to the frieds and family who made the day happen.

We are planning on getting married some time next year. We are going to do the ceremony in an art gallery near our place, with lots of nice natural light and wooden floors, probably have cake and nibblies there too. I also want some of those mexican day of the dead figures on our cake.
I have one friend in mind to dress up with and have flowers etc and my partners daughters are going to be his 'best girls'. Not going to wear a big white dress, probably spend $400-700 ish on some really cool karen walker dress or something that I can wear after the wedding.
Then going to blow the rest of the money on food and alcohol at a local cafe and hire some jazz musicians.
The things we want to spend the most money on are food and photography (excluding the rings ...they don't count we'll just add those to our pile o' debt )

Hey all, we did things on the cheap (well I think so anyway) but it still cost about 9 - 10 k all up.
We didn't have a bridal party so we saved lots there, my dress was made by my mama, a friend did our photos for FREE and we had the spitroast company do some yummy food! Our main costs were the reception hire and rings.
We wouldn't have changed anything though, it was very relaxed and intimate. (50 people)
Here's a quick couple of pics
One of us and one of the cakes (cos they were yummy)
Cheers!

Hey all
deharn - We wanted a chocolate cake because neither really like fruit cake, but my nana has a tradition where she makes a fruit cake for every family wedding. So the little one was fruit, the other was chocolate fudge cake. Both got eaten on the day although we had leftovers
Roksana - Our cake was soooooo yum. It was chocolate fudge cake, with white chocolate ganache icing and thick chocolate board all around the outside. It was the best cake I have ever had! We had lots left over too, and we found out it was even better heated up in the microwave. It tasted like hot brownie with white chocolate smothered all over it
We bought it from Dorothy Patisserie in Wellington, it was about $500.
I'm having my 21st this weekend and they are making my birthday cake...its also choc fudge cake with white chocolate ganache and pink/white choc boards/pieces all around two tiers. *droools* I'll have to post a pic when we get it.
Cheers!

Well I was going to start a new topic but thought I would spend 10 mins finding this thread instead!!!!
I am at the stage of writing the invitations... My mum is paying for the Wedding while Dad is putting in some money too... (but not anywhere near as much as mum! - they are divorced)
I have noticed on invites you put the brides parents if they are paying and do that format or a seperate one for if the bride & Groom are paying. As this is a casual wedding - any of you girls have ideas as to the best ways to word it!?
So how did you write your invitations and anything you would change? (Ideas!)
Thanks

We worded our invitations (to a casual wedding):
Nathaniel Phillip Louwrens and Rebecca Mary King would like to invite you to their wedding. (etc, etc)
We paid for 1/3, my parents paid for 1/3 and Nat's parents paid for 1/3, so we thought this would be the best way to go.

Our wedding was close to $30k and it was the best most perfect day ever. I wouldn't change a thing - at all. Everything went without a hitch and we got so much great feedback from all the guests about having such a good time.
Our photographer has just put our photos back on the website
www.pennytowns.co.nz
You need to go to Galleries, Alicia and Steven wedding and the password is Andrews
I didn't think that we were extravagant at all but thats all relative I guess. The biggest cost was catering which was just over $8K but we really wanted a seated dinner and pre dinner nibbles etc etc and had 111 guests to pay for. We made sure that we didn't get ripped off by getting quotes from at least three vendors but we didn't neccesarily go with the cheapest options - we went with the people that we felt the most comfortable with.
We both really wanted a classy and elegant feel. I thought it was fantastic!! Our budget was
Venue Hire 2,650.00
Catering 7,700.00
Photographer 2,400.00
Beverages 1,357.00
Gown 1,650.00
Bridesmaids 1,050.00
Suit Hire 1,500.00
Cars I got my car for free from a dealer
Florist 1,100.00
Favors 300.00
Ceremony music (string trio) 300.00
Reception music (hired sound equip and used a laptop so we could have our own selection) 600.00
Accessories (shoes, jewellery etc etc for whole bridal party) 855.40
Hair (all the girls) 300.00
Make up (all the girls and fully redemmable on pruducts) 420.00
Stationary (invites & inserts, order of service, table centrepieces and colour seating plan) 300.00
Cake 438.00
Wedding night hotel room (including cars for the boys) 850.00
Rings 2,395.00
Ring Box 85.00
Celebrant donation 200.00
Hope that doesn't look too messy :-)

I agree Roksana - we wanted to make sure that we wouldn't look back one day and wish that we had spent more to get exactly what we wanted. Even though there were a couple of times when we were like "man - imagine what else we could have done with that money" but in the end, its just money and you can't take it with you so you should make sure that you make the ride as enjoyable as you can with it!!
It did look fantastic huh Jess We only looked at the one place and were both in love with it and weren't even sure how it stacked up price wise!! LOL Your wedding was beautiful Jess - I really loved your gown - you looked amazing!!

Our wedding didnt cost a massive amount, I think about 8 grand all up, but it was a nice day, really relaxed and chilled by the sea. ANd it was nice to have family and friends around us. I was 6 weeks preg then and feelin a bit sick but other than that it was a good day, although I have never been that big on weddings, I have always thought that a wedding is just a day, and to be honest we could have done it in our t-shirts and shorts and we would have been happy - the specialness was in the moment for me.

Our wedding was in March of this year.
I like to think it was middle of the road price wise. I know that I could have gone a lot more mad than I did!
Dress: 2200(including shoes, undies etc)
Suits: 350
BM: 300
Flowers: 700
Celebrant: 200
Reception: 9300 (including all food and drink)
DJ: 600
Rings: 1100
Hair/Makeup: 500
Cars: 500
Cake: 250
Photography:2500
Stationary: Free! (was a gift)
Honeymoon: another $3-$4000
So all up around 22K. As I said, I could have gone more mad. I think my downfall was not really having a budget! But also not settling for anything I didn't want!
And I had so much fun planning it all, I'd do it again in a heart beat................maybe not!!

oooh we are in the thick of planning ours, and it is just over a year away now. I want to get it done before I have baby. We have a budget of about $7000, and, you know what? I think we will do it! By having our wedding in the evening we are saving lots by only having finger food/supper. The hotel only charges for food, no hire costs etc and of course booze. Plus free bridal suite and brekkie (it is a nice hotel, too) We have about 110 on the list, so at $20 a head, plus some stuff I will make (choc strwb tower profiterole tower)the food costs aren't too bad. Booze, we will set the tab at $1000, it will be beer and wine only, including lindauer. Cake I am doing myself, $100, flowers are about $300. Hair makeup being done by my friend(a hairdresser) and bridesmaid (make up lady)car, free loaner from DH's mate who is a holden dealer. Not having wedding favours, but will do helium balloons and disposible cameras. Just clothing and photos to sort out, and I have the photos semi sussed as well. No honey moon at this stage, although we might spend a few nights in akoroa over next xmas to make up for it (and leave kids with mum..) SO EXCITING!!!

lol, ooh so nice having others to talk weddings with.
So farrrr..
our budget is about this..
$3,000 catering + extras of around $200
$650 booking grounds and venue + $75 for room for the day upstairs at venue
$1500 at least for alcohol - after that they can pay for themselves!
Guys clothes= $200 (MIL making shirts and waistcoats, so only pants and material to buy)
BM= $500 - again only material costs as MIL making.. haven ot yet factored in shoes and jewellery
Janine’s dress = $1300 max.
Hairdressers = $250 all up - have had this quoted already, yay.
Invitations= $200 is my limit - will find a way to make them, currently looking at options and ideas.. wil have invites for family etc that include reception and ceremony then a some other ceremony-only invites for those like workmates, other friends of the family etc.. who can attend the ceremony and come back later for dance if they want, but only family for reception.
Photos = $1500 - hhhm am wondering if i need too much as our family are mad photo addicts equiped with all the latest digital gear! but may hire a family friend who does them to take some nice ones around venue.
Cameras for tables $100
Flowers = $150 - $200
Other bits = $200 (have no idea what - maybe thismight take into account jewellery, shows etc.
Table centre pieces - $are about $250.. have brought the stuff for nearly all of them, just a couple of things that we have had to order from another shop as our red shed was out of them .. long story
Celebrant $?? - works by donation only and is wonderful - sis had him for her wedding, was sooo great.
Marriage License - $400? - does anyone know how much this actually costs?
Total so far = $10,595 if we go over this i am going to be seriously gggrrr.
I am hoping, since the dresses i have chosen for the girls are straight forward and the material is not too dear.. that the max amount for their dresses is a gross over-estimate.
yay weddings

We got married on 11 march this year in Gisborne. We had an outdoor seated wedding at 3 pm in beautiful gardens, under big shady trees at the same venue as the reception. The reception cost just over $6000 for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles, 2 course buffet, all drinks, and included the hire of the whole venue, for 78 people.
My parents, Brent's parents and us paid roughly thirds. We had brought our wedding bands 3 years before when we got engaged, and I had brought my dress then too,...but then after 3 years and changing size on returning from London, ended up getting another one made for me at a family friends shop in Rotorua for "mates rates" price of $500! So happy with it! My shoes were $120. Brents clothes and shoes were $400. Bestman and bridesmaid paid for their own outfits. We paid for hair and makeup for me,bridesmaid, both mums and my nana.
We paid the celebrant $200 + licence fee. Flowers were $350. A family friend made the cake for cost only, and we got all the chairs ,chair covers, dance floor on hire for free from another friends shop.
DJ was $450 I think? Photos were $1500, we had 2 photographers, and got all the negatives and photos on CD and an album. We had photos at Brents parents vineyard, then went into town and had more photos at the beach. The 2 bridal cars were $150 each. We made our own invites, but paid $30 to have the words printed on nice paper, then made the cards up ourselves.
We stayed 2 nights at the only hotel in gisborne which was great (Dad paid). Most of the guests that travelled down from Auck stayed there too. We then had a brunch the morning after the wedding for eveyone who had travelled at a near by cafe which Dad paid for. Brent and I then honeymooned in Aueenstown for a week! Yay! Although I was 9 weeks pregnant and feeling a bit yuk!
Right now for some pics!

Hi
I have just recently got married (on 21 July) and ours was a real budget affair! I wanted to have a registry office do with a nice meal out, but got talked into doing something a bit more so that all the friends and families could celebrate with us. All up the wedding cost around $4,500 with my parents chipping in quite a considerable amount.
Hall Hire = $1300 (plus $1000 bond)
Catering =$1500
My Outfit = $600 (including shoes)
His Outfit = $200 (for a new shirt and shoes - he wore his dad's kilt!)
Flowers = $120
Cake = $90 (bargain of the century - two-tiered chocolate cake from Chocolate Cake Company - I put the decorations on myself)
Photos = free (Dad took them)
Drink = $300 (we asked people to BYO we provided champagne and juice)
Then my DH paid for the honeymoon - a week in New Caledonia - which was lovely!!!
I am trying to post a picture here too - but can't figure out how to do it!

Thats hilarious sparkle - as my sister-in-law and her bf are getting married in acouple of years and guess their names?
Julie and Damien! What a coincidence!
they are getting married in Jan 2008, so not the same date - that WOULD be freaky. BTW, love the shots.
