Ok so as some of you may know, Im trying to wean Ava off the breast and onto formula after ENDLESS breastfeeding issues.
NOW my plan was to wean her slowly, one feed at a time over a few weeks. Problem is, now she has decided she doesnt want to breastfeed AT ALL. She pulls and tugs so much my nipples are dark purple.
So i thought i would express and give her some expressed feeds and some formula feeds. But my breasts get so rock hard after 3-4 hours im expressing all of the time and i don't want to INCREASE my milk supply, i want it to slowly DECREASE.
How do i do that?

Naturopharm have a product called milk stop or something similar you could take to try and reduce your supply

When I weaned the gremlins I had to get down from expressing 2l a day. To reduce my supply I expressed every 5-6 hours and only expressed off enough to make me comfortable, not to drain the breast. I think it took about 10 days to get to the point where I didn't have to express at all anymore, but I was expressing a lot more to start with so you shouldn't take that long.

another thing to remember is to reduce your fluid intake. When you are starting out breastfeeding you have to up your water intake so much and when you are stopping you have to do the opposit. A bit tough when the weather is warming up but it did help me. Also cold flanels/cold showers to help take some of the soreness away and avoiding hot showers & baths as is brings the milk down faster!
Basically everything you did to increase your supply at the start but in reverse
