hi, wondering if anyone could tell me anything about breast pumps. Am wanting to get one so that DH can feed baby at night but am unsure about want sort to get. The electric ones look good but are so expensive. Are they worth the extra money if it is just for one or 2 feeds a day? What is the different between the Aventi and the mandala? | We got an Avent Isis Uno which had an electric and manual pump option. And it was brilliant!!!! We got ours 2nd hand but just sterilised it well. You don't need to buy brand new if price is an issue. |

I have an avent manual and a medela manual (which I also used as a mini-electric until I got my avent). I found the avent really good and will be solely using that one this time around. -------------

I had an Avent Isis pump as well, it was great. I was expressing a lot though, but I think even if I was just doing a few feeds a day, an electric one would have been good. ------------- Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years). |

I have the Medela, and its great! ive never had a problem from it and can fill bottles in 5 - 10mins. The Avent bottles have that BPA stuff (sp) when heated so watch out which ones you do choose.

I found the Avent really good. I have a manual, and it was fine, even when I was expressing everything for 4 days while Daniel had surgery. The electric medela pump in hospital was OK, but I just preferred the Avent, esp. the cushioning on the suction bit - made it a bit softer on my boobs! ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

I've still got the Avent Isis manual I bought when Maya was a baby, and it survived 10 weeks of full time expressing for the gremlins. I hired a Medela double electric with them coz I was expressing 6-8 times a day but I preferred the Avent so hardly used the Medela. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I love my avent if I had known expressing could be so easy would have done it with the boy's.
E.T.A: mine is a manuel and it only takes' me about half hour to get off over 100ml course this depend's on when I express. ------------- Deborah Mum to:

I have a Avent Isis Uno as well and I love it, easy to use and I liked that it was both manual and electric. Comfortable to use as well. -------------

I'm an avent isis lover as well, I prefered that over the electric one the hospital loaned me, it got more off,a nd being manual, it was nice and quiet! ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

haha , when I was at Bethany , there was a huge old electric breast pump, and it actually made a mmmoooo type sound ...so it was called Daisy  -------------

| I've got a tommee tippee closer to nature manual pump, and i find it really handy. with expressing, take advantage of the time 1st thing in the morning when you've just fed bubs and put them down for a sleep, when partner isnt around, get comfy and just relax while you do it. It's the only me-time i get in my hectic day, i get to watch tv or read my magazine, and i normally get enough milk from that morning expression for 1 full feed (which means i can hand bubs to my partner and go have a shower, uninterupted.) He gets some lovely time with his daughter for bonding - and i get my sanity back! |
