Hi all,

I found out at 11 weeks that bubs had stopped growing at 7 weeks. The next day, I met with the doctor who offered a D&C. I wasn't sure what to do, she told me to go home and think about it. I did, but proceeded to miscarry naturally that same day. It was really horrible and painful, but seemed to be over that day.

For the next two weeks I continued to bleed, heavy at first and then dark brown spotting. I thought every thing was all over, my partner and I had sex for the first time and the bleeding started again-bright red and medium sized clots.

It seems to have slowed again, but I worried that there is still more inside of me. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I just really, really want this all to be over now, it's been almost 3 weeks. Most of all I'm worried about infection and not being able to get pregnant again.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Goldy,

I replied to you in the other thread but wanted to ask if you had a scan after you miscarried?? I had one to make sure that everything had gone. My doctor said that you can have a scan for free for the six weeks after a miscarriage, so you might want to ask for one to be sure.

Hi Goldy,
I miscarried at 7 weeks and bleed for 2 weeks. When I left the hospital I continued to bleed very lightly for a week, and then in week 2 I would only find that when i wipe myself the loo paper was dis-coloured but didn't need to wear a pad . By the 3rd week some days there would be no discoloration when I wiped myself, and some days there were. My husband and I started to have sex maybe in the 3-4 week and also found that after sex for the first couple of times I would be quite discoloured but then by the 4-5 week there was no sign of blood.
Hope this helps.

So I continued to bleed and had scan and sure enough there were still "products of conception" in my uterus. I had a D&C the next day and feel better already. The bleeding has stopped completely and a huge weight has been lifted. It's funny how you just know that things aren't right.

When I went in for my scan the receptionist told me that scans are only covered for 2 weeks after miscarriage. Which makes NO SENSE because the doctor and midwife both told me that it was normal to bleed for two weeks. Anyway, I spoke with the ultrasound tech and she agreed that it was ridiculous and because I never stopped bleeding technically I was still having a miscarriage, so she changed the date.

Hopefully this is all behind me now.

So sorry for you loss hun but glad that you are feeling better and positive. Doctors and Nurses can be so insensitive can't they.

Thanks guys, I really do feel so much better now that all the physical stuff is behind me. I hated having such a yucky reminder constantly.

I hope things are getting better for everyone else as well. This sunny weather certainly helps a lot.
