has anyone built a house from scratch on an uncleared section. i realise there are a LOT of different factors like size, density of bush, retaining walls, slope to be cleared etc... but what did it cost u roughly to get the section cleared, we have found a peice of land and are getting it quoted soon hopefully but just wanted to know anyones experiences and maybe prices even though they will be quite different. Ta -------------

We looked into one section that didn't need to be cleared so much, but it was quite sloped so they had to level it to make a flat building platform. The quote for that was $4000. Probably not much help sorry! ------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3

DH is involved in a lot of this type of work and it can very according to soil, accesssability, pitch, surrounding infrastructure, geotechnic environment, service locations, etc, lots and lots of veriables and wellington is just one of those places that has it all.
If you are looking at a building site you may also need to get the geotechnic reports, possibly a pentrometer test or sink pit to make sure it has a suitable building site. sweet, there are houses surrounding it and it is slowly being built around so i would imagine if others are building the same area it would be fine but will get it tested anyway. we are wanting to clear about 900sqm of it and flatten it out. its mainly gorse but is on a slope which is probably our bigger issue. i have no idea if we are looking at 10k, 100k or 500k. i can design houses and stuff but this goes over my head and i have no idea what to expect -------------
