Should I get a MW now or wait until I'm further along?

I felt like a bit of a dick last time when I got one straight away so to not miss out and then having to tell her that I don't need her anymore because I miscarried.

I haven't been to the docs to get it "confirmed".. 3 POAS tests is confirmation enough. I don't want to get bloods done because hcg tests are stressful and I don't want that.

Should I just stop being silly and phone a MW??

I reckon so Stacey. Who will organise your first scan to check whether it is ectopic or not, or will you just wait?

ETA: I wouldn't say silly, I'd just say take the plunge

Yay for being preggers again Stacey! All appendages crossed for a sticky one! And good on you for not doing the stressful hcg tests done, try to relax if you can

Is there a bad MW shortage in Palmy? We're short of them up here but I got mine at 8 weeks no problem. So if you would feel more comfortable waiting another couple of weeks, surely you should be able to still get one then. On the other hand, if you liked the MW you got last time and she was nice about it, might be worth giving her a heads up anyway?

My MW with Daniel has retired lol... but the MW I spoke to last time was fairly new in Palmy and not well known so she wasn't totally booked up quickly.

When I get closer to 6 weeks I will go see my GP, he's an ex ob and gets me what I want so I'll get a scan referral then and even if he wants me to go get bloods I think I just won't lol

After my blighted ovum I felt funny calling my midwife incase it happened again. So when I saw her at the supermarket of all places, I told her I was pregnant, but planned to get some serial hcg's done for a couple weeks and also a dating scan. So I did this then contacted her.

Don't be put off because you are early. Unfortunately mc can happen at any stage so you just have to think positively!

You'll be fine....and congrats :)

Stacey, if you would like to use the same person you contacted last time, I'd call her, or even email her, and tell her that your pregnant again, tell her your nervous about another miscarriage but wanted to touch base with her and can you firm things up with her in another few weeks.

That way she knows what's going on with you, you will feel better because you've taken a positive step for this pregnancy without putting too much pressure on things and then stick with your GP until you've ruled out ectopic etc.

*big hugs*

I would get a MW now. I had mine organised within 2 days of finding out I was pregnant (I found out at 3 weeks 4 days, and had my MW booked by 4 weeks exactly).

I agree with what TraceyA has said. I would contact her and let her know the deal, at least when it does all work out right (positive thinking!) you are all organised!

If your going with the same one as you contacted last time I'd say give her a call, it will give you someone else to share your concerns with and she maybe able to put you a bit more at ease - a problem shared kinda thing.  Also you can have just at blood test to confirm pregnancy without having the hcg levels checked.  Not a good time to be stressing, do what feels right and makes you feel comfortable

Aaaaannnddd

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Stacey, I've had no blood tests to confirm this pregnancy or to check HCG levels. My doctor and my midwife said that one positive test would have sufficed, for some reason they thought 5 was over-kill

Can I ask who you have choosen this time?? You can txt me if you like. But I would call her again if you feel happy to go with her and just let her know you are pregnant again and maybe just let her know that you are pregnant and maybe she can organise an early scan for you.
