Just a little vent ....
I just picked C up from school ,as usual she wanted to have a play in the playground ,that was fine .
While I was there, another little boy , a brother to one of the students , was being a right little sh*t .
In the sandpit he was throwing sand at the girls , snatching toys and chasing them out of it .
Then I saw him snatch a toy off a little asian girl , and pull her hair and push her, I looked around for another adult that might be his parent and the only ones I could see were 2 women chatting away oblivious on the other side of the playground .
So I told him off, no one else was going to do it , and he was at least 4, so well and truly old enough to know better .
THEN , after a while mother decides to get off her a** and comes over, where he points to me and tells his mother I told him off , so she says "excuse me , how dare you tell my child off ?"
and I looked at her cooly , in my Scarlett Ohara fashion (i have perfected it over the years ) and said
"I dared tell your child off, because while you were over there gasbagging ,your child was bullying all the kids in this playground , and making them cry , if you are going to turn a blind eye to it, thats your business , I wont ..come on Caitlyn " and putting my face in the air I turned and went .
She may have her reasons and excuses, not my problem , he was being a little sh*t and deserved to be told off .
And then , to make a fun afternoon funner, my daughter says to me "mum, in the olden days , when you were a child, did they have christmas ?"
tho , if im from the "olden days' that must make some of you from the prehistoric times ....

btw , the Scarlett Ohara look ,is where you raise one eyebrow in a withering haughty ,you are beneath me , expression .
Works only if you can raise each eyebrow separately
Also tends to only work if you have eyebrows

Go you!
I mean, fair enough we all get caught up sometimes and might not notice our child getting up to mischief and fair enough, we are all defensive of our babies and hate to hear that anyone has upset them, but she sounds pretty special!

Sounds like he needed a telling off so good for you!
I did the same a few weeks back but without your grace and style... a girl rather a lot bigger than Belle hurt her. I comforted her but didnt say anything figuring maybe it was an accident. Took Belle to play somewhere else where she'd be out of the way of the bigger kids and the same girl comes running over and jumps onto the toy straight onto Belle's fingers. I got such a fright I yelled at her and her parents sitting a few metres away didnt even bother to get up and see what was happening.
Next time I hope I'll follow your lead and do it a lot more gracefully

I'm one of the prehistorics Mums My daughter asked if everything was black and white when I was little as the photos were hehe
(there were actually colour photos way back then but these were taken professionally in B+W)
Anyway that was off topic ....just wanted to say good on you.
I wish I was that brave and quick with my responses and I so wish I could do the Scarlet O'Hara look.

Good on you Kelly. I had to tell a little girl off for bullying Michaela in the playground a couple of months ago. Her parents were sitting a metre away with their back to her and although they heard me tell her off they didn't do anything - that makes me angry too.

Thanks guys , i was livid i tell you , he was making kids bigger than him , cry , and seeing him attack , because thats what it was , the little asian girl , was the last straw .
But then the worst part was her response , I could not believe it, luckily , I think im wonderful , and always have absolute confidence in what I say ...and from a very young age decided that no one was better any better than me, and noone has the right to make me feel otherwise (in other words, I was a handful )
But her acting like I was the horrible one ...grrrr.
And having a go at me in front of my daughter, ...double grrr.

good on you. it makes me really angry too. i teach gymnastics and have one kid that wont listen, walks off when ur talking to him (even when your nice and helping) and today actaully jumped on top of another kid repititively. so i made him sit on the side for the whole class but he took off and hid somewhere. anyway, point of my story is, his mum was sitting on the side of the room reading a book and never even looked up even when she heard other kids yelling his name. he is 6 years old and ws given a bottle of lift plus by his mum when he came in. grrrrrrrrrr.
im definitly impressed with you looking out for the kids, i reckon id get too flustered if she approached me so well done

What can I say ? im a good actress
I was a bit ,well surprised , that I was the only other adult there, apart from Ms Charming and her friend..
I have no idea where the other parents were
