For the past few days Caden has had really groos runny, stringy looking poo's and he has a terrible nappy rash He has also been very unhappy at times, but still his normal self the rest of the time.
I think its his teeth, but I cant get the nappy rash to get better because he is pooing just about every nappy, sometimes just teeny amounts other times quite a bit.

Ive just changed a pooy nappy after his nap and lunch and now Ive just heard him poo again and he is on the floor screaming

Does this sound like teething?

ETA- He on the floor now having no nappy time and he is much happier. But I think the runny poo and stuff could be him teething..

it could be teething. but also if you are breastfeeding it could be somthing you are eating or drinking which makes his poo sting his bum which gives him the rash.

Amelia got really bad nappy rash like to the point wear her bum was weaping blood and nothing worked for me apart from curash baby powder. I swear by it it made her bum so much better and i just make sure i use it every 2nd or 3rd nappy change so it doesnt come back.

Don't know if this is much help.

Caden is formula fed and having a some solids each day but not much....I did wonder if it was something he is eating...He has been having thr apricot peach and semolina and the apple and cereal...maybe one of them is upsetting his tummy...

I actually have some of the curash powder in my nappy bag, I totally forgot, I will sue that on his next nappy change.

Thanks for the reply

Yep sounds like teething to me. Same thing would happen to Emily when she was teething. One theory is the extra saliva they produce and swallow when teething makes their poos stringy. Just recently Emily had another teething episode and we had a couple of days of runny stringy poos just about every nappy change. Now that her teething has stopped her poos are back to normal again.

When Em was younger and had the bad nappy rash with it, I found either Curash powder or Sudocrem helped a lot. I preferred the Sudocredm though as I find powder really annoying to use. But now she's a bit older I think her skin has "toughened up" a bit so we don't get the nappy rash anymore.

Put sudocream on and then vaseline overtop! Use thick layers of both the sudocream and the vaseline. Works an absolute treat in this house!

My son would always get a sore bottom when he was teething. Not horrendously bad, but enough that it made him uncomfortable.
I used Curash powder at most nappy changes...and I LOVE Lucas Papaw ointment. The stuff is brilliant.

What wipes do you use? Our girls had such raw bums from using regular wipes so we started buying the packs of Johnsons nappy liners from countdown. They're like chux cloths but much softer. We just use them and some warm water as wipes and have never had a problem since

Tishy from the April 2008 thread gave me the best nappy rash concoction (sp)
Curash to dry, sudocream or zinc to heal then vaseline over top to protect. Worked a treat for Jackson when he had a terrible rash, he was even bleeding. Thanks tishy!

Definately sounds like teething to me... I hope he gets better soon, poor wee mite.

We use JJ skincare wipes cos his doesnt like any of the huggies or pams etc

I have patted his bottom with salty water tonight and dried it and put a heap of sudocrem on, and all last night and today I have been putting curash powder on and its drying it up a bit.
Next nappy change I will try the powder then sudocrem then vaseline and see if that helps. I have also put a pams nappy on him to see if its the huggies making hsi bum sore...probably not, but woth a shot!

He is still doing sour icky poo's just about every nappy change, mum said that its the same looking/smelling poo's that we did as babies when teething, I was starting to worry but he isnt unwell or unhappy in general so Im thinking its definitly his teeth aswell...

Vaseline and Sudocreme in our house hold too.

Sheena, keep an eye on his ears over the next couple of days... Keziah had a wicked case of this and it was caused by an inner ear infection (crap going into her tummy from her ears) and after a few days on antibiotics and ear drops it all went away and back to normal

The rash is healing well though, the sudocrem and curash powder did the trick!
