I discovered last night while having a bath, a lump on my c section scar line, midwife check it today and has decided to hold off on antibotics as it doesnt hurt to touch and its not red and hot (fingers crossed it just goes away)...

we also weighed Rhiannon today and she had only put on 50gms in 5days even though she is feeding every couple of hours, so we are going to see midwife on monday and if there isnt a significant change then im going to have to supplement with formula. (im not sure how i feel about this as i would like to exclusively b/feed but at the same time i dont want her to go hungry) oh well i will have to do what i have to do.

On the bright side though Rhiannon gurgled for the first time today, and that brought a smile to my face.

I had a friend that had the same problem with her daughter. This was her 3rd baby and she had been able to breastfeed her 2 other babies. She felt the same way as you and wanted to breastfeed but she also said she didn't want her baby to go hungry. She ended up putting her on formula and she did really well on it. Hopefully Rhiannon starts to put on more weight so you are able to continue breastfeeding her, good luck and i hope it gets better.

You should try going to a lactation consultant before supplementing if you want to try to stay exclusively breast. I had booked into see one but my plunket nurse really pressured me into supplementing with formula so I did. My milk supply went down really quickly after that and when I did get to see the lactation consultant she said she could have prevented it. I was really dissapointed and felt really guilty for ages.

my daughter fluctuated in her weight gain in the first couple of weeks. first she gained really well and then it slowed for a couple of weeks. she balanced herself out and was happy with just breastmilk for 9 months or so. hopefully it is the same for you kazzle.
love those first gurgles eh? just make you so happy!
