wear an underwire bra for one day if I am still breastfeeding?

I am going to be a bridesmaid for my sister in March this year and well my maternity bras don't give me much lift.

mind you I will have to get fitted probably get fitted and buy one Friday morning (have to leave Friday afternoon).

Im not sure why it would make a difference, I used to wear underwires when I was going out during the day when I was breastfeeding .. (they made my cleavage look nice)

It was just a pain to have to flop out the boob instead of having a neat tidy clip on the bra

Nah, for one day you'll feel like a million dollars.  They only say no to underwire as it might block a duct but thats probably more of a problem in the early days than now.

There are the soft wire pregnancy bras, I saw them at farmers last week when I was getting new maternity bras for me.

I started wearing underwires again while I was still BFing.  Like NZPiper said I think that now that your milk is established it should be fine.

This is a really good question. I hate maternity bras. They're uglier than feet and penises put together.

When is a safe time to start wearing underwires again?

Sorry to hijack but i've been wondering about this same topic quite a bit.

I put them back on relatively early (4-6 weeks) .. although not if I was mooching around the house, then I was all for comfort

Danaj Bendon have some really nice range of softwire maternity bras which look good on.

I started wearing underwires again when Michaela was around 1yo.

I went into Bendon in Riccarton yesterday and was hugely disappointed with their range No soft wire ones at all and only 1 style that wasn't a nursing one. I think I probably just caught them at a bad time for stock levels but annoying! Might have to check out what Ballantynes has.

Sorry that's nothing to do with the original post but am still interested to know for future reference!

ETA: havn't had much luck with the range in Farmers either, will maybe check them out again though, especially as they have a sale on

Sorry didn't notice prices or sizes once I realised they weren't maternity bras. I remember thinking they looked nice, fabric was lovely and they were a little lacy. Wish I had them when I was still pg.

I actually have an underwire maternity bra so yep it's fine - but maybe do a trial run a week before to check you don't get any blocked ducts or anything.

I bought one bendon maternity bra $50 basically & a waste of money....there were only two styles a few months back one cut me right under the arms and was such a lovely colour NOT & the other was black & made me pillow busted.

So I bought hotmilk BF bra's and have been wearing them ever since, Love them, give you awesome cleavage & they make you feel so sexy!

Go for it. The only concern I'd have is if I was big-breasted, would I be quite uncomfy? Try it one afternoon before the big day.

Yeah like others have said go for it. I started wearing my normal underwire bras when Caprece was about 8 months and I had had quite a few blocked ducts in the early days but had none with underwires.

Since its only for the day anyway if you feel one coming on it will be pretty easy and quick to get rid of it.

yeah alas for me I am rather big breasted so end up having to spend fortune in bras I had to buy maternity ones when I was around 25 weeks as my underwire ones were getting too uncomfy.

it will be at least 24 hours without me feeding Megan so I hopefully I don't get too much engorgement.
