I thought this'd give you all a giggle first thing in the morning, or else leave you unmentionable horrified

So, I took the ladle home last night and plonked it in the kitchen. The husband thought it was great (we don't have nearly enough to get excited about, obviously!), and said that he wants me to get some more utensils from the same place today so we can have them sitting on the bench and looking very 'French kitchen'.

Uhhhhhh .....

Interesting.

I can either buy the utensils and spend a fortune, or I can explain to the husband why I'm not going to buy the utensils, and find myself strangled to death.

*snort*

That'll learn me

I also have a horrible feeling it's going to involve buying more utensils, and burning the visa bill when it comes in!!

Phew! I went back and I now now have a jam spoon, a serving fork and spoon and a something else ....Oh! A cheese knife. And, I'm pleased to announce, they were a lot less than the ladle!!

I was also very good and double checked the actual prices of everything, and that they were in the right bin before I bought them! It must've happened to a few people yesterday, as everything had been rearranged today into their proper places.

Oh, no xanthesmum! They don't actually match! Crikey - I hate to imagine what I'd have had to pay to get them to match!

They all have different designs on the handles ...but they still look great together. I could've bought them the same, but I'm big on stuff not matching. I have no idea why ...it's just a weird thing I've developed!

No, they weren't. I was just being a twit Admittedly I don't think I would have been able to get more than a couple of things the same, which is why they're 40% off I guess (I got 40% off because I bought 4 things) - but the range is designed so that you can mix and match the designs anyway, if that makes sense.

hey ginger, have you been talking to my husband? he sings that too, the refrain is probably more like
" lildo is a weirdo lildo is a weirdo " ( his nickname for me, long story) or he is likely to sing "matching, matching" in a high falsetto voice at me if i say anything.
yes it is my problem, but i love it...... so nice to see all of one set of something.   I always wear matching underwear too..... haha

My entire family call me lil, have since i was a baby, scott used to alternate between that and lyla, after a few drinks one night at a friends place i did something a bit blonde, a bit dumbass ( cant remember what it was, years ago now) and he and his friends started chanting at me "lildo the dildo"...... and it stuck with that group of friends. s even wanted to get me a personalised plate with it on, but i talked him out of it..... (be very easy to turn an L into a D with a vivid) How sad, really! we are all alot more grown up now

Hey Jess - The ladle thing started in the 'Girls who are trying' thread ...basically I bought an effing expensive ladle by accident! It was 30% off, and still cost me $41.30 But it's a very cool ladle

The rest, as they say, is his-tory! (and documented at the beginning of this thread)

yea, you have a good point, i am sure yours will be very pretty. you can pass it on to your grandchildren when you die.... that way there might be enough use out of it to justify the price (hahahaha, sorry, laughing at my own wit )
i am a bit sad today, our cat got run over, am feeling really weepy and sad, not to mention a little insane and miss xanthe keeps saying to me "richards not in the garden, richards not dead" - we tried to explain it to her, and dh came home from work and buried him. she put flowers on the garden where he is, but doesnt quite grasp it..

TIme for the rainbow bridge poem me thinks
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh, Lyla ...I'm so sorry. That's horrible, and awful and sad.

You have my permission to continue taking the micky about my ladle now (which, incidentally Sarah Beth is not insured, you horrible wench. You're lucky that Maya explained to me that you're just jealous that you don't have such fabulous utensils ).

Oh, and an update on the utensil situation - the husband liked my collection from yesterday (which also cost a fortune) and now wants a fish slice!! Maybe I should tell him the shop burned down overnight or something ....

Do you know ...I'm a bit worried about my utensils now that Sarah has brought up insurance. What if someone was to look in my kitchen window and see the utensils and think "Goodness! Those are the most marvellous utensils I have ever seen! Especially that ladle!! That is such a fabulous ladle!! I'm going to break into that house and steal those utensils for myself ..."

Maybe I should insure the utensils....

Or maybe I should just insure myself for when the husband finds out how much I spent!

providing your sum insured reflects the value of the ladle and other utensils they will be fine, however to be on the safe side, I would double your sum insured, effective immdeiately!

Well it's a serious question Jess!!

I mean the insurance company may not be able to believe the replacement cost of the ladle and want proof of ownership...now I'm not sure that ginger kept the receipt or if she biffed it to hide it from hubby...so just a thought...specifying may cover her incase of that person who breaks in to steal such an amazing ladle!

good thinking paws, ginger, that is something you really need to be careful of. and from now on you will have to frisk friends and family when they leave your house, incase they saw the ladle and coveted it so much they steal it!

when it comes to green gingham, you cant trust anyone!

Perhaps it might pay to install a safe in the house where the said ladle can be stored whilst not in use. Or perhaps install a security system so that an alarm sounds should someone try to exit the premises with said ladle.

Oh, poo! I didn't just biff the receipt Paws (in case the husband got suspicious and went through the rubbish) ...I shredded it. And the one for the next lot ...and as for the third lot ...I didn't even take the receipt just in case. Oh how on earth am I going to insure my utensils now ?? Oh no, oh dear ...what will I doooooo ....?

I'm going to have to hide them in my knickers draw to keep them safe forever like all my other important stuff, and I'll just have to make sure that the sharp utensils aren't caught up in my undies when I put them on in the morning! I don't know how one would explain a serving fork imbedded in ones posterior!!

I can't cope anymore!! I'm going to have to go home and check on my ladle ...and cradle my ladle (haha!) and make sure it is always safe from harm!!

Actually, in all seriousness, I sincerely hope the husband doesn't want me to use the utensils for cooking.

I have it, the perfect solution. You will have to quit work Ginger and stay at home to protect the ladle!

< language=> LMAO you guys so funny but sorry Vin diesel would have to be my bodyguard mind you he may not be the one to guard the "ladle" as he might be tempted to do some serious stunts with it LOL and then there is the other dude (shucks his name just left me) who was in fast & the furious with him HEY now theres a thought we should hot it up, lower it, kit it out with a Fusion sound kit, 17" mags & of course you cant forget the whissh pisssh thingy ( aka blow off valve the husband just informed me) LOL now that would be one serious ladle!!! or maybe you could do a mission impossible thing & have it on a pedistal & if anyone removed it then a big rolling rock would chase them...... < language=>

I have a question that my hubby bought up last night.

Ginger, have you checked your insurance policy carefully? You want to be sure that your policy is replacement value otherwise you may end up with a poxy ladle from the $2 shop if it turns out Hugh Jackman bites as a bodyguard in spite of his set of matching knives.

Also Ginger, have made any plans to provide for the ladle? I mean insuranace is all well and good but what if something were to happen to you? Perhaps a trust of some sort should be considered?

I'm ignoring the lot of you

(Plus, I only have dial up at home, so I really don't have much choice. It takes about half an hour to load the blimmin pages! )

you could have it in your will, and nominate a caregiver, and give them a sum of money to look after the ladle for you. pick someone trustworthy though! they may flog it off on tm as soon as you are gone.
