Our wedding is coming up in 8 weeks, and the skin on my face has started playing up hugely. It has gone really dry and flaky, with angry red patches (mainly on my forehead). I need to get some products to start soothing and calming the skin down so it's nice for the wedding - does anyone have any suggestions??
I don't have a huge budget, but it needs some TLC really badly. I wear makeup everyday for work, which doesn't help (it's the same makeup I've always worn - Shiseido). Please please help - I have no idea where to start!! |

I've been loving the 2B stuff from http://www.babybaby.co.nz/product-2b.html - BabyBaby , gentle and natural and reasonably cheap. Specifically I adore the Multi Healing Balm, it's good for everything I've tried it on so far (itchy bites stop itching and disappear, acne goes away, scratches heal faster etc). They've got a page with skin conditions etc on their site and what might be good for them.
Sounds like you may have a touch of http://www.yourskindoctor.com/psoriasis.html - psoriasis ? Is the wedding stuff stressing you out? In which case a chance to relax, a decent moisturise and a little bit of sunshine might be all you need...? ETA - I've never smoked and therefore never quit, but I spose it could be a reaction to stopping smoking and it might just settle down by itself? Or did it start before you quit? -------------

I had Psoriasis break out around my eyes the week before our wedding last March. I cut out alcohol, reduced the use of makeup and stayed away from creams etc all together. Try the chemist to see what they have to treat it. It started before I quit weegee - it could well be psoriasis due to stress of the wedding (it wouldn't surprise me - there's a lot of stress going on at the moment). I moisturise everyday at least 2-3 times a day just using a generic moisturiser that hasn't set my skin off before (I've been using it for about a year) but I'm almost out and haven't seen it again. I have to moisturise, as my skin is VERY dry. As for relaxing....not so easy at the moment!!! Maybe after the wedding on the honeymoon??? 
I am definitely looking into the Healing Balm on that site...looks quite nice and light and natural. |

| I possibly could - I don't wear makeup on the weekends ever, it's only during the week and it's a light foundation and that's it. I won't have any on over the next 2 days so will see how it looks/feels on Monday... |

maybe try taking some evening primrose caps or vitamin E?

I also have very dry skin all the time. I recently started using the Trilogy range of skincare products as they are a natural skincare range so no nasty chemicals. It's not cheap - I use cleanser, toner and moisturiser twice a day and each one is about $30 - but so far they've lasted 2-3 months. can get it from Farmers and unichem pharmacies.
I've also had psoriasis in the past and used an over the counter cream called Nutraplus - its good for all types of eczma and it usually cleared up mine within a couple of day - and it's only about $5.00. ------------- TTC#1: Jan 07 Aug 08: Lap found and excised Stage 3 Endo Nov 08: 2nd lap clear - given OK to TTC after next AF |

I'm not sure if you can use it if you have psoriasis, but I found bio oil really good when I had extremely dry flakey skin before my wedding. I rubbed a tiny amount on each night. ------------- Michelle http://lilypie.com">

Thanks ladies  I just don't want the makeup for my day caked on to cover up these ugly horrible red patches...I'm going for the more natural look!!!

STOP wearing makeup..............stress and the heat is making it worse.................get a GOOD cleanser.........there is soemthing called 8hour cream by elizabeth arden go get a ssample of it its very thick but its good...............dont use cheap products from supermarket but there are cheap ones you can get with natural products in them..........if you cant afford it can someone shout you a good facial from beauty therapist? you may only need one and within a few days it should be all good...............you skin just needs to be aired :) ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

You could try cutting vitamin E capsules and applying the oil straight to the effected area of skin.
