Hey everyone. I'm a newbie here!
My name is Lou (short for Louisa), my hubby is Simon...we have been married for one year in June. We live in the best city in NZ, Wellywood!
We are currently TTC but having some issues due to the evil PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
Currently seeing a specialist who has said "LOSE WEIGHT"...so thats basically where we are at! I am also taking metformin to assist the PCOS systems!
Congrats to all those expecting bubs!
Baby dust to all those trying!
Cheers

Hi and welcome to oh baby!
Im curious about you taking metformin for pcos, do you know how it solve that problem? Its just that i have been told I have gestational diabetes and if I need insulin they have asked if I would take part in a trial using metformin instead of insulin and apparently is used to treat normal diabetes and GD around the world. I didnt realise it can be used for pcos or that it helped with weight lose.

Hi Robyn
Insulin Resistence is an underlying symptom of PCOS. You are right, Metformin is a diabetic drug, but they are seeing great potential in it to help relieve the symptoms of PCOS (including helping lose weight and regulate periods).
Thanks for the welcomes everyone
Cheers
Lou

Hi Lou,
Good to see some more newbies like me! One of my good friends had PCOS n managed to conceive after loosing 20kgs, so hang in there, it can be done. I'l av to ask her if she tried any meds to help her along, I know she did the Atkins-style diet tho which she raves about.
Look 4wrd to chatting with you
