With every round of immunisations my wee girl gets a nappy rash, so I'm becoming a bit of a fan of finding what works. I've tried -

Bepanthen ointment (pretty average) ***

Sudocream (really good when it looks sore)****

Karicare Ointment (absolutely horrid)**

Vaseline (the classic preventer)***

Lucas Papaw ointment (Fantastic!!!! would recommend this to anyone.)*****

Johnson's Pure cornstarch with vitamin E (ok)***

So what have you tried and what do you think?

Amy has had nappy rash a few times but only once very badly when the plunket nurse said to get daktozin (sp?? sorry the tube is in Sophie's room and i have just put her down for a sleep ). It is very thick - don't try to rub it in, just dab it on the nasty areas and it has anti-fungal properties. Good for when it get nasty sore looking.
Usualy we just use Lucas' pawpaw and Sudocream if it is a bit worse.

Hope your poor poppet's bum gets better soon - at least the weather is good so she can have lots of nappy off time.

Sudocream and lots of nude times works well for us. Daniel has never had bad rash - more that it starts getting red, so we start the sudocream straight away

i use curash powder during the day (more compatible with mcn's), but slather on the bepanthen at night with the disposables. as Flissty said, lots of nappy-off time is good too.

We don't need anything for Sophias bum but Lachies would only get better with daktozin so we invested in the company

Alani only got nappy rash after eating too many grapes. We use Weleda nappy changing cream. It works wonders. Only after using it once you can see a big improvement.

When it gets really bad ( which is when Aoife is sick) I do a layer of talc ( to dry it) sudocream (for the zinc) and a layer of vaseline ( to stop the wees from stinging it) and this works a treat everytime.

Paw Paw is brilliant for bums and any other rash for that matter.

I just use good old zinc and castor oil free on prescription. Works just as well as anything else I've tried.
