Catriona had a very runny poo this afternoon that smelt really strongly of vinegar . . . Is this anything to be concerned about? She seems otherwise in normal high spirits . ..

She is now on two formula feeds a day as i am weaning her onto the bottle - one of the formulas was causing her constipation so i tried an "anti-constipation" formula. Could that have caused the smell?

ETA not so concerned about the runniness - more the smell . . . Her poos have always been on the liquidy side

Umm, I wouldnt worry too much, Caden has had all sorts of lovely smelling poo's since being on formula and soilds. Sometimes its really really foul smelling and sometimes it can smell quite sharp, like vinigar I guess.
If she seems her normal self I woudlnt worry, but keep a note of how her next poo's are, it might have just been a one off.

Hi

Im not a professional or anything but when a baby is formula fed their poo's do tend to be a bit more smellier than BF bubbas, My son's poo's can smell pretty rotten sometimes.... I've never come across a vinegar smelling poo tho.  It might be her Digestive system still getting used to the change of formula...Maybe ring Healthline or Plunket...

Teething????  Apparently that can cause an acidic smelling poo

Thanks ladies

hmm - she's been teething for about the past 6 weeks (all movement though - nothing coming through!).

If it gets any worse i may call healthline, but she seems happy enough today - may just see how she gets on . . .

when caden was teething his poo was very runny and sour and acidic smelling, it was like that for 2 weeks and he had the nastiest nappy rash ever, which turned to thrush , we finally got it all cleared up after a while.

teething really sucks for them
