This might sound dumb, but where do you get them done?

We are in Wellington, but just wondered if there is a specific shop or like a general photo place. ws trying to think but had a total blank moment.

Cannot believe in the passport app it asks for his height - madness.

lots of camera shops do them and also some pharmacys. However with such a young baby you may be better trying to do it yourself at home.

The best way is to spread a blanket (pale blue is the best colour to use) on the floor (or bed) and pop your little boy on it. Then stand above him and take the photo. Take heaps!! Don't use the digital zoom, just the regular zoom (you may need to experiment with how far above him you need to be. The most important thing is the try and get both his eyes open and to be able to see both of his ears. . Don't try and prop him up, it doesn't really work as small babies just seem to slump. The staff at the public counter in Wellington are usually pretty helpful and so are the staff on the 0800 number. Good luck.

they have a public office where you can go and talk to a person ( ) and drop off your applications and get it checked to make sure that you haven't missed anything, ask questions ect. It is on Boulcott Street (off Willis Street).

I would suggest that you take lots of photos and then pick the best two or three and get them printed at a photo place - they are so much better than home printed ones.

I would suggest that you just go to a photo place and take the stress out of it. Most places will do more photos for free if they are rejected.

Its quite a challenge to get everything that is required for the photo e.g staring at the camera, both ears in photo, mouth shut.

I got mine done at a chemist and it cost about $15.

Hope that helps.

I got Jody's done at a camera place. I had a white muslin cloth with me and we just lay her on that. Lucky she was in a good mood and quite happy to lie ther for a few minutes. I just pushed her chin up to close her mouth and amazingly she kept it closed!
I haven't heard from the passport place yet so hopefully they accept it.

It was funny putting height; 62cm

I just wanted to second the recommendation that you take it into Internal Affairs in Boulcott St to get it checked.

We took some at home (having carefully read the instructions), then took the memory stick into a camera shop to get printed. They said ours weren't good enough (not showing enough of her ears), so insisted they take some themselves. Well theirs were crap, kinda fuzzy (and you still couldn't see her ears very well) but they insisted that cos they are down the hill from Internal Affairs they were experts in passport photos. But then of course they were rejected by IA so went back to have them retaken (manager couldn't apologise enough - apparently we shouldn't have gone in on a Saturday). Then when we submitted the second lot (once we'd had them re-witnessed, and got the IA to check that this time they were ok), it took ages for the passport to arrive cos they'd typed in the wrong address!

Anyway, moral of the story is a) read the requirements and make certain you're happy with the photo/s, b) take them into IA, and c) allow plenty of time!

Hey we got ours done at kmart and they were great. We just lay him on a muslin on the ground and he didn't smile (hard ground), in 3 months he's not going to look anything like he does now. let alone at 4.
