I've seen these advertised on trademe for what seems to be a very good price. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they too cheap??

| The only thing you have to be careful of if your going straight to a convertible seat is that your baby fits, the straps have to be at or below the shoulders for rear facing. I think they only rear face to 9kg as well, which isn't that heavy, you want to keep your baby rear facing for as long as possible as it is safer. A good seat is the cosco scenera, the warehouse sell it for $200, it fits newborns really well & rear faces to 16kg. |

That sounds like something for me to check out, thanks I really like the safe and sound premier (only cause it looks sooooo comfy!). Hmmmm, might have to do a search on carseats. We have a Supernanny 3 in 1 booster for Michaela and have found it really good but having said that I'm not sure if I'll go for one of their convertibles or got one somewhere else. If you do decide to go with Supernanny, before getting anything off TM check out http://www.babies.co.nz - www.babies.co.nz and compare prices. -------------

Just noticed the convertible one isn't designed to use with a bolt, only a seatbelt. Hmmmm

We have one of the boosters too and even though it doesn't bolt in, it doesn't move at all in our car. Our safe n sound moved a little even though it was bolted in and had the seat belt through it. We like it better than the safe n sound for daniel.
Dunno about the convertable though |

I found the same thing as Stacey. By the time you've threaded the seatbelt through the carseat it's in there really securely and there's no shifting it. My evenflo, which did have an anchor, wobbled a bit. Like Stacey though I haven't used the convertible so can't really comment. -------------

Could be worth having a look at maybe then. I didn't realise it would still be secure. It is only rear facing till 10kg which I thought could be a problem, but just looked in my plunket book and at a year I was 8kg, and was 10.05kg at 21 months so maybe it could be ok. I'll have to get MIL to look in DH's plunket book lol. That's the only thing I didn't like about them. I'd rather have the child rear facing as long as possible. Michaela's been forward facing since 12mo as recommended by plunket but recently I've seen a lot of research showing that even children her age and size are safer rear-facing. I got a go safe carseat which is rearward facing to 9kgs and he is 8.7kg now so as soon as he turns 6months I'll have to turn him. It would be my recommendation to get a carseat that goes rearward facing to at least 12kgs because I hate being in the position of having to turn my babe around.
Also think about how tall the seat is because my babe is going to out grow the hieght of his chair before he will be ready for the booster seat. I thought I had put so much energy and thought into his seat but it turns out its just not the best seat for the job. ------------- http://lilypie.com">
