My vacuum cleaner is terrible! Barely sucks at all and we really need a new one. We have a golden labrador so need one with good suction power for dog hair.

Does anyone know of a particularly good brand or even a brand I should avoid when looking around?

Thanks

I have a Dyson and I love it. It's not the animal one - but I have found it brilliant at picking up our cats hairs. However, I've found Dysons to be quite expensive here, I bought mine over from the UK when I moved here.

Dyson definitely is the way to go.

We got ours second hand from my BIL who used to work for them and even though it is a few years old now it still works so so well - especially getting up cat hair.

You might be able to find some older ones on TM. But if you can afford a new one I'd grab one - you won't regret it.

We've got a Dyson as well and it's fabulous.

I have a chocolate lab who sheds everywhere (hideous). Before we got the Dyson, we had a regular vacuum with a hose, and it would take so long to get the carpets looking remotely clean. Now with the Dyson I only need to go over it once and it brushes everything up.

We have the upright one with the pet attachment. It just lives plugged in, in the corner of the hallway so takes 2 seconds to do a quick once over.

I think it cost just over $1k, but has been well worth it, and we won't need to replace it for years and years.

I also have a Dyson - and we have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as well as 2 cats. Its great gets out all the dog (and cat) hair without any problems. The only problem I have is that I have to keep stopping to empty it because it picks up so much hair!

Thanks guys, and thanks for bumping that thread in Gen Chat Peachy. I have heard good things from other people about the Miele Cat & Dog so think I might go for that or a Dyson. Now I just have to find one on special and convince my DH!

We've got a dyson and a miele (dont ask!!) and the miele sucks up so much more than the dyson. I loved my dyson but its been retired now...just my 2 cents worth
