My wee darling of a daughter has taken to wrestling with my nipples when its feeding time. She must be under the impression they can stretch like elastic but they can't. She latches on and when sucking likes to get a hand on my boob and push herself off with my nipple firmly secure in her mouth. My right nipple now is sore and the left one isn't much better.

Any ideas how to tackle this as she doesn't realise if she pulls it off no milk will come out.
I wonder if anyones nipple has been pulled off before while breastfeeding. Ummmmmm

can't offer any personal advice as my 2 didn't stay with bf long enough to start being monkeys but have you tried the advice they give to mums who have babies who bite? When they bite/play up, take them off and say 'no'. I think there is an article on the site somewhere. 's to you though as I am sure that it must be so painful

Ooooh Jett used to do this!!!  Man it was soo annoying.  He only started doing it around 8 months or so, and he hurt them so much I had to use nipple cream to heal them as they got so cracked and sore!  Yet I didn't need any cream when he was born!

Sorry, I don't have any advice, just letting you know my son did the same thing, but he did stop doing it after a while.  Although when he would do it, I would take him off the boob, put him down and sternly tell him off, it would hurt me soo bad!

Maddi does that and I am trying so hard to stop her. Especially now as her teeth have all just come through. Right now I feel like I am feeding a NB again and I just dont want to go through with it anymore. I feel like a human teething ring.

I have been trying the method for biting - stopping, saying no and taking her away. It hasnt really been working as she just gets so upset and needs to be resettled on the boob

I am really hoping its a phase and she gets over it quick smart!

I basically take nipple pulling as "I want to play, not feed" even though that's not always true. So that means I take them completely off (put your finger inside your mouth to open their teeth if you need to ) and put them down etc. I don't re-offer until after a couple of minutes and only if they ask.
