Hi all,
Hubby and I have found a name for our little girl that we both really like - not totally sure that we'll use it yet - but we are disagreeing on the spelling. I was just wondering what your opinions are on the spelling and why? You could just like the way it looks or be more practical and think it will get misspelt all the time etc! Anyway would love to hear what you think! Personally, I prefer Ashleigh... but that's just me!

OMG Kelly that name is on our short list too LOL! Personally I prefer Ashlee or Ashley... Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple. Often people try to fancy names up by spelling it differently, but the name is still just as nice when spelt more like it sounds.
This is my just opinion based on the fact I have an unusual name that I have always had to spell for people all my life. I have always wished it was more straight forward. |

Have a look on a rack of personalised cards/stickers/pens and see what the common spelling is there. I have one of those spell either way names - Maree - and used to alway get annoyed that I could only get Marie stuff. To make it worse my maiden name was impossible to spell so I always had to spell both names out to everyone. Thankfully I married someone with a really simple surname - I didn't realise how good it was until I stopped having to spell things out everytime someone needed to write my name.

The funniest, stupidest thing I have ever been asked was how to spell my maiden name. It wasn't even over the phone, but rather in a face-to-face situation! My maiden name is "King"!!! ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

no way Kelly! Baalamb too! Actually DH is the one that loves the name the most - sure I will share - after all i know yours now LOL!
Our list is like this: 1. Brenna 2. Mikah (pronouced mee-ka) 3. Ashlee At the moment I am leaning towards Mikah and DH is leaning towards Brenna... Ah, I think Ashlee and Ashleigh are both really nice names - Ashlee could be a little bit "Ashlee Simpson" sounding - if that helps you sway your hubby (but who knows which way it'd sway him!). ------------- Andie |

| Yep it happened with me, I was getting a bit worried cos by this time we had Kobes name all sorted but only had some back ups till now, ones that we liked but didnt jump out at us until wonderful Kelly came up with Addison! yippee for Kelly. hubby still loves it and Kobe can say it better than half the other names we chose so thats a good sign to. Hope something jumps out at you soon! |

Funny, I suggested Ashleigh Jade to hubby but Jade is the daughters name of someone we know and it has put him off it!! Our surname is 2 syllables so I think a single syllable middle name would be quite nice! I like Ashleigh. I write down peoples names every day and Ashleigh seems like to most logical spelling...but that's just my brain of course ..
Yeah and I agree that Ashlee reminds me of Ashlee Simpson ..which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your opinion of course! also by the time your daughter is old enough to know who Ashlee Simpson is she will be so long gone and out of fashion anyway...

I don't pop in for a while and I'm being talked about!
 Kelly!! hahahaha we'll probably end up with Ashlee Jayde! We've had that since day half hehe thats funny. And frantic, we had Ashlee Kate until I said it out loud and immediately thought of the Olsen twins! Mary Kate and Ashley haha so that went out the window very fast.
We've gone with the Lee ending because my mum's middle name is Lee and my sister is Haylee so we love the idea of carrying that on for another generation. |

Yes if we had a reason to go with one way or the other it would probably make it easier to decide!! I think I might have persueded hubby on "my" spelling - Ashleigh - as he said last night that if we go with that spelling then he gets to pick the spelling for the next child!! Ashleigh Grace sounds lovely! (my girl that three pregnancies in a row has turned out to be a boy was going to be Caitlyn Grace - so I've had a Sean, Andrew and now s/he is going to be a Sam ....maybe I can call him Caitlyn as a nickname? hehe)
