The sale of our house finally went unconditional so we have gone unconditional on the house we are buying in Swanson. Yay!!!
What I want to know is what is there to do there? We will be within walking distance of the shops and a couple of playgrounds. Are there any playgroups close by? Where is the nearest kindy? Toy Library? Plunket? I suppose we are spoilt where we live now as these are all very close.
Oh and unfortunately the golf course is VERY close so I will be a golf widow again so definately needs some ideas!
I am sure I saw a doctors surgery as a drove through, what is it like? It has been suggested that I change to a local doctor rather than driving 15min+ to my old doctor. It will be a bit strange though as one of my GP's delivered me!! and a friend from school is a doctor there now.

Hi Linzy
Congratulations!
I have lived in Swanson for ages! The doctors surgery in Swanson is great, can be hard to get into though I think, so best to call and find out, but the docs & nurses there are wonderful.
There is a playcentre up on Christian Rd (off Swanson) I have heard good things about it but thats all I know.
I think the nearest plunket is either Ranui or Henderson. Not sure about the toy library sorry.
The fish and chip shop at Swanson is good, I love the chicken burgers! At the local petrol station they usually pump your gas for you! (you dont get that much these days) The caravan cafe at Bethells beach is good (but pricey) and I love Bethells beach (approx 10 - 15 min drive from Swanson village) for long walks and escaping a bit, not good for swimming really. The railway cafe is good and they have markets there about once a month too.
All in all I love Swanson, we live up Scenic drive so no footpath which sucks as I cannot go walking easily but that is my only complaint!

Yeah I am looking forward to moving there, the land we have is bigger and I plan to put in a vege garden.
Good to know the F&C shop is good! We have a good one here that is in walking distance so nice to know that not everything will change.
I suppose I might just have to get used to driving a little to get to some kids 'things'.
One of the neightbours that DH spoke to while we were looking at the house said they sometimes walk to the train and take it into town for brunch or lunch. I think that will be something that Jack will enjoy

We are moving from Green Bay so it is a bit of a trek to get back here for doctors etc. Westgate is probably only about 10mins away so I may try those doctors as well, thanks

I love Stuart & Jane at Massey Medical Centre - they are a husband and wife and while one is at work the other isn't. They are fantastic with the kids and me!
Nearest main Plunket is Lincoln Road. And the cafe at the train station does a good breakfast.
