Im so sick of having to put Ava's dummy back in all the time after she (sometimes deliberately) spits it out.

When did your baby learn to put their dummy back in by themselves? I can't wait for that day!

Issy was about four months. We got a dummy clip at six months, that way if she lost it in the night she could just pull on the chain and find it....

I find that a lot of the time Heidi gets more upset when I try and put the dummy back in so I just pat her and do the shhhhhing thing and she goes to sleep???? (not all of the time of course but mostly)

I couldn't survive without dummies in the early days as my bubs were real sucky babies. You may find that they self-ween off the dummy's. At about 4 mnths both started to go to sleep without their dummy's & only if they woke before they were meant to feed did we give them their dummy's & they'd go back to sleep. Now, without any training, Jacob only wakes for the dummy at about 6am & maybe 1/2 of his day sleeps to keep him sleeping until wake/feed time. Eli is now a thumb sucker & we don't even use the dummy.

I've also heard they start at about 6mnths to have the coordination to put it in themselves.... Jacob's great at pulling it out but not very good at putting it back in yet!!

How old is your little one?

We used a dummy clip with a very small ribbon and a friend of mine just bought 4-5 dummies and put them in the cot a couple on each side so that where ever her baby reaches he will find one. Dominic started putting his dummy back in by himself at about 7mths.

About 5mos from memory. We also had a clip and chain, I just made sure it was clipped low enough on her clothing to not be able to settle over her neck.
