Have you done this with your baby? Was it worth it? Dislikes, likes??

Thanks

I did 2 terms with Ella and started when she was 10 months old. She had just started walking when I did it and she loved it!! it was a really good way of her getting rid of some excess energy during winter. I didn't bother doing it over summer, as I figure she can run around the park/beach etc and it does get quite expensive. Some of the people I spoke to started doing before their baby started moving and in hindsight they didn't really think it was worth it (definitely didn't help their baby crawl/walk faster).

I think it did help Issy crawl quicker. She went to baby beans before she could move .. (mostly for fun), but we think the cross patterning helped her crawl sooner than she would have.

(She crawled before seven months)

However she walked relatively quickly too (10.5 months) so maybe she just physically develops quickly anyway.

Either way she 's her baby beans.

i just started ty as i was driving me mad............he is in the two year group as he is very active..........i have only done 2 session in the waikato but i can tell you being pregs and being in a hot building does not help.......would diffently only do it in winter.......ty doesnt sit still so he playes on the equipment when the others are doing floor time.........every now and then he will come over if we are blowing bubbles or stuff like that he still finds it strange to listen to the kiddies music and dance as he dances to modern music so he frowns when he hears it he seems to be enjoying it and apparently most kids go experiment with the equipment before they join in.......i think the price is WAY too much especially if your like us and cant afford it........i cant speak for every group but i started in the hope i could met new parents but they all keep to themselves and its more of a parent kid time and ty enjoys playing with the kids so he finds that hard.

Interesting question! We started with Oli when he had just started crawling and I really think it helped develop his spatial awareness and he seemed to enjoy some aspects of it. We started in on class but then the class got too small so we were forced to move to another one, which was a lot bigger - I dont think he enjoyed that so much. My little one loves exploring and doing his own thing, but gets quite grumpy when you try to "make" him do something that he doesnt want to do.

Overall I think it was positive, although we are now going to Tiny Tots Gym a the YMCA, so will see how we get on with that one.

My only negative feedback would be that the lady that runs it can be a little "harsh" and "stern" sometimes. My little man didnt really like her very much, so that made it interesting sometimes!

A harsh jumping beans lady .. poor Ollie!

Our one was lovely .. and she told us to take her to the Remuera class as it was smaller than the one in Ponsonby .. (she suggested it because DH was taking her and she thought he would be more comfortable).

Now we are out West the time of the toddler class is when Issy sleeps so she wont be going, but at least we have a grounding in what type of activities she can do.

that sounds exactly like Ella, which is why Jumping beans suited her perfectly as the guy who runs the North Shore classes is lovely and didn't care that Ella wanted to do her own thing instead of sitting around the circle.

Unfortanately the gym classes at the YMCA on the shore don't start until they are 2.
