We are using Bum Genius nappies for about 8 months now and while we love them...... I'd just started noticing that some of the nappies are starting to not sit snugly around the legs. I've now just had a close look while stuffing the clean ones tonight and I've just realised that the elastic on some of them is stuffed - ie not sretchy! I'm gutted because we saved money to buy ones that we thought would last really well - not just for this baby but for our next one as well. We look after our nappies really well too - washed daily and always washed with Ecostore powder etc.
Has any one else had this problem?
Any ideas what we can do about it?
I can't even remember where we got them from! That's not a problem though, because it will be on our bank records. I'm hoping there might be a 12 month guarantee or something?

I would definitely try and track down your retailer and contact them. I'm not sure what your warranty details will be but it's your best bet.
Out of interest, do you have V2 or V3 nappies? I've heard of problems with the elastic in V2s, but not in V3. I'm really bummed for you

Just searching through our bank records to figure out where I bought them from... wouldn't you know it that Jan 08 is missing, and I'm sure that's the month we got them! Will have to order a statement...
I think (hope) we should be able to have a 12 mth guarantee.
Anyway... I think they're v2, because I've since bought 2 new ones and they're slightly different at the top - the PUL comes down her tummy a bit on the inside, whereas the other ones the PUL stops at the top. I think we got them just before v3 came out.

I think the elastic on my v2's is starting to go too. This week I have noticed Sophie's nappies gapping at her legs. Must check out if its the elastic, or the fact that she has been walking for a month now and lost some of her leg fat. Grrr! We have had a few nasty 'explosions' lately because her nappies are not fitting well. Not sure how to fix the leg gapping problem though.

Had a look, and the elastic has gone in 3 of my bum genius nappies!! Grrrr... not impressed!! they were some of my favourite nappies, and now I can't even replace them!! (I'm not paying the new price!)

I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that we'll be able to get replacements for ours from the place we purchased them from, there's no way I'm paying for new ones!
If worse comes to worse, I might try to attempt to replace the elastic - I think I should be able to just unpick the leg seam, turn them inside out and whip out the old elastic, put new elastic in, turn the right way again and re-stitch.

Yeah I am thinking I will try and replace the elastic in mine too. My nappies are over 12 months old, so would be out of any warranty. Good luck getting your sorted out!!

FINALLY found where we purchased our BG nappies from, their website say the warranty is for a year and we got them end Jan 08 so fingers crossed they might extend it!
Failing that, I'll replace the elastic. Found this which might help you nicolaann...

We have V2 and V3 but no problems with the elastic on either yet - the V2 were put into circulation in Mar last year so they've had a fair run.
But I'd expect them to last through to the next baby. After all that's how they justify the upfront cost - that it will end up cheaper than disposables because you can do more than one baby with them.
