Another Q from a cloth-newbie!!! Is it okay to wash the nappies with regular clothes? I use liners so the majority of the poo is disposed of but there tends to be a little that ends up on the nappy, we only have 1 pooey nap per day so not a lot but just wondering if its okay to wash nappies and regular clothes. The washing instructions on the nappies say they can be washed at the same temp as clothes normally are (40degrees here in the UK) but is it hygenic to include with clothes. TIA.

I think it comes down to personal choice. Some people like to do a seperate wash whilst others just throw them all together. If you were going to wash them with your regular clothes I'd suggest putting the nappies on a cold rinse cycle first just to wash out any wee or poo residue, then throw everything else on top with your detergent. Just be sure to use a mild detergent and don't overdue the amount you use otherwise you'll end up with a build-up on the nappies which can affect absorbency.

I am sure it is fine but I just can't bring myself to do them with the clothes, I tried once. I do a separate nappy wash. However it is easier for me to do a nappy wash every 2 days as I know I will have enough to last me. It would come down to personal preference

I started out doing them separately but it was just too many half-loads of washing!!
Now I bung everything in together, no pre-wash or anything (we use liners too) and it's fine. Try it both ways and do whatever works for you
