Hi Ladies
My poor Mum is in Wellington Hospital, she has lost almost all of her sight . She also cant taste, smell and her hearing is not the best either. Shes going to be in there for a while as they cant figure out whats wrong with her. Im just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what I can take in for her tommorow when I see her again? All we can do at the moment is chat with her. My heart just breaks when I have to leave her because all she can really do is just lay there

Oh no Kaiz. That must be awful. I hope they can figure out what's wrong with her soon. How about you take in a cd player with some of her favourite cds? -------------

Oh your poor mum. What about taking in some nice hand lotion and giving her a nice hand massage and maybe a foot massage?

If her hearing's not too bad, how about a talking book? It would give her a way to pass the time while she's there on her own. You can get them from public libraries -------------  My beautiful 2 girls...nearly 4 and 13 months

Thank You  All great ideas. I'll pop down to the library tonight. And I think I'll ask Janaya if Mum can borrow her mini CD player and go and get her cds so she can listen to them.
I did offer my Ipod to her but she wasnt keen as its too. Shes only 45 ------------- Mummy to two beauties... Formerly Kaiz. |

Oh that's awful for both of you. Even though she's lost most of her sight, what about taking some family photos in? It can be really good for the staff working with her to know more about her - can help kickstart conversations etc. Also means her room/cubicle is more personal rather than a just a horrible hospital bed.

She got discharged today (very unexpected!). She had a bit of progress and could tell i had a yellow top on today. Shes very happy to be at home. My brother is coming down from Auckland tommorow to spend some time with her at home so that will cheer her up also. Fingers crossed her sight is coming back! ------------- Mummy to two beauties... Oh Kaiz Im sorry to hear about your Mum!
Thats great that she has been able to come home though, I really hope she continues to get better! ------------- TTC 6 years IVF it is IVF/ICSI round one 10 eggs, 8 mature, 3 fertilised BFN IVF/ICSI #2 = 22 eggs! 20 mature, 15 fertilised, 1 fresh transfer and 2 frosties BFN 2 Frosties still in freezer thank god |

Nope. We need Dr "House" 
They think its optic neuritis, but as shes got it in both eyes (usually its only one eye) they are a little stumped. Shes had a lumber puncture, an MRI, a CT scan, and theyve given her steriods and Anti-b's. Hopefully we will find out more on Weds. ------------- Mummy to two beauties... Formerly Kaiz. |
