Hi,

This is probably a very silly question...but I have started making baby food and just wanted to check i'm not missing some important something.

So far I am making fruit and sweet potatoe, just boiling it and then mushing it up and then into ice cubes in the freezer all covered up.

When I want to feed it to him, do I need to re-heat to boiling point and then wait until a suitable temp to serve or can I just heat up until its warm enough since its got no meat in it.

How do you guys make your food?

With my frozen vege's, I just pop however many cubes is needed into a cup, and zap them until not frozen. Be careful to check and stir anything you heat in the microwave as it will have hot spots. I don't heat to boiling point intentionally, but have been known to do it by mistake. Just use the inside of your wrist to check it's not to hot.

I just defrost my frozen cubes (either in the fridge or microwave depending on how organised i am!) and then heat in the microwave until warm (about 15 secs max). And yeah, make sure you stir it well after microwaving to spread out any hotspots.

As above, if I'm organised enough I take it out in the morning to defrost & heat in microwave or just zap from frozen but only ever to warm never boiling.

When I make mine I do it in flexible muffin thingys, makes it really easy to pop them out. My wee hefty boy eats more than one of the normal size muffin cups worth. I take it from freezer and put it in his bowl, microwave it for a minute, add a bit more water to it then thicken it with baby rice/baby musli, and heat for another 10 secs if it needs it.

I just defrost my ice cube by sitting the boil in a warm bath of water until they are nice and warm for him to eat. I don't like using a microwave.
