Josiah has decided that when he is getting hungry, he should go and raid the rubbish bin. I'm getting sick of going into the laundry (where the bin is, off the kitchen) and picking up potato peelings and old gladwrap. The remains of Kiya's sandwiches from the day before seem to be a paticular favourite! I shut the kitchen door to keep him out, as he can open the sliding door into the laundry.

Lol... I'm more venting than anything else... it is kinda funny when he comes out of the kitchen with half a sandwich hanging out of his mouth!

hehe. he's going to get a wonderfully strong immune system from it. ella was obsessed with our bin for a while there too. we discovered it was great in one way, cos she'd happily deliver all our rubbish there for us while we sat on our butts. doesn't work anymore though, darnit!

Hannah is right on into the bin too. Ended up having to put it on top of a chair (maybe you could try that?!?!) only prob is that if he can pull it down then there'd be much more mess!!!

Well, as of yesterday dinnertime, he's stopped raiding the rubbish bin for food! Josiah has been able to open the kitchen cupboards for a while, but last night he figured out which one the crackers are in! Three times today he's gone into the kitchen and helped himself from the box!

What a shame, I have to go shopping now for some biscuit tins...

we had to put kiddy locks on our pantry. Kobe goes and helps himself the whatever and if he doesnt like it he gives it to the dog. I often find them lined up at the pantry trying everything he can reach.

eeewww. Jacob has a facination for our bin as well, but luckily, can't get into it. He also likes the look of the toilet brush, caught him ALMOST ready to have a snack the other morning.. I forgot to shut the door. GROSS. Also likes to lick ash.. he licks his fingers and sticks his arm as far through the fire gate as he can to get it. Strange child..

Ayja favourites are, as you know, shoes, anyones from anywhere no matter what they've walked in. feet, also does not matter about dad's smelly socks or sisters feet covered in goodness knows what from daycare.

she also has a thing about licking the metal side part and handles of chairs in public places, you put her down and she walks along things and licks them - not great at all - especially does this in the doctors and the hospital - who knows what she could catch!!

and yep the bin is a favourite for her too

I know what is it with kids. Jayde gets into the rubbish bin all the time. Grrr I think she may be starting to grow out of it. And the licking thing so grosses me out. Jayde licks the metal part of the shopping trolley. And we were out with mum the other day and she said whats Jayde doing? Oh nothing just licking the swing.

I love this topic. Jayde, Ayja and Josiah are all a teeny bit older than Andrew and I have used it as proof that Sean (10yo) and hubby need to pick up all of their stuff before Andrew licks it. Sean is now in fear of slimy bionicles. The house is looking good - many thanks

Hehe DH used to do the same thing when he was little! My MIL ended up getting rid of her rubbish bin and kept a bag on the bench. It was a running family joke that she wouldn't get a new bin for 25 years after she got rid of the other one. She only just got a new one last year- I would hope at 27 he would have grown out of it by now.

LOL this has been a good read! Manny & I have had a good laugh reminiscing bout wen the boys went thru their bin stage! We ended up getting 1 of those kiddisafe gates , closed off the kitchen completely & be done with it. Liam still has one GROSS habbit tho - he has to smell everything, like the potty, his pooey nappy, anything yukky he just has to smell b4 we can get rid of it
