Hi all, and thanks in advance for any ideas.
My daughter has been happily eating solids for more than 2 months, but over the last 5 days it's become the most awful experiance!
She grizzles, trys to climb out of her chair, clamps her lips together, waves her arms and trys to push the spoon away, even cries!
But as soon as I get one spoon into her, she guzzles the whole lot back, opens her mouth for the spoon, as if she's forgotten all about the tantrum she was throwing 3 seconds earlier.
Whats with that? I know she's hungry, I know she likes the foods I'm giving her. It's at the same time of day I've always been feeding her, but sometimes the tantrums are so bad that I can't feed her at all and then I feel like a bad mummy for not giving her her solids.

Is she teething or getting sick? Daniel was exactly like that and I was pulling my hair out. After about 5 days, the tummy bug became apparent.

Daniel did this on and off for months and it drove me absolutely insane except he did it for every mouthful. We never found a cure for it though! I ended up just resorting to giving him finger foods and sneaking food in without him noticing

could be sick, but otherwise, and I know this sounds horrible, just pin her down to get that first mouthful in, and if she's happy after that then that's OK. We did that for DS as he was hungry but kept throwing tanties so just had to force feed him (he was on 3 meals a day and I only bothered forcing one into him) just to get the first spoonful and after that he was fine. Also bribed him with his favourite food, so I think he ate only weetbix and baby cereal for a week lol

Maybe teething. Her nights are a bit rough at the moment too. Might try the bribery with the favourite foods for a day.

Caden does this aswell I havent been able to stop him really, and he always makes a bit of face with the first mouthful then after that he is opening his mouth and making noises at me to feed his faster.
he doesnt do it at every solids feed, but a lot if the time he will, especially if he is in a grump, or something.

If it doesn't turn out to be teething or illness then maybe try giving her a spoon to hold while you feed her. Jack went through a stage (sorry can't remember when) where he had to have his own spoon to hold while I fed him
